Glenn Beck’s motto is “The Truth Lives Here”. It seems that the truth is subjective in Mr. Beck’s mind. Obama did follow in Lincoln’s footsteps: they both divided the country. Let us hope that when the federal government usurps power again as Lincoln did, Obama will be remembered for his true actions. No one has divided this country more than Lincoln but Obama is a strong second.

Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for simultaneous raids on two Iraqi prisons and said more than 500 inmates had been set free, in a statement posted on militant forums on Tuesday.
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, which was formed earlier this year through a merger between al Qaeda’s affiliates in Syria and Iraq, said it had carried out the attacks on Abu Ghraib and Taji jails after months of preparation.
Monday’s attack came exactly a year after the leader of al Qaeda’s Iraqi branch, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, launched a campaign dubbed “Breaking the Walls” that made freeing its imprisoned members its top priority.

A senior White House official griped on Monday that Congress wanted to “trump up phony scandals” rather than help middle-class Americans as the Obama administration faces increasing questions about the IRS-Tea Party scandal, National Security Agency surveillance, Benghazi and other controversies.
Instead of focusing on the important issues, “too many in Congress are trying to score political points, refight old battles, and trump up phony scandals,” said White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer.
Pfeiffer made his remarks on Monday in a blog post and e-mail to supporters previewing President Barack Obama’s Wednesday speech on the economy in Galesburg, Ill. He will speak about the same topic that day in Warrensburg, Mo.

A lot of Americans have an impression that drone strikes are less damaging to civilian populations that conventional airstrikes. This would be false. In fact, earlier this month I highlighted an article from the Guardian that demonstrated how in reality drone strikes are 10x more likely to harm civilians per incident. Now, thanks to a recently leaked document we find that many more civilians including children have been killed in these strikes than many of us would like to admit.
In fact, of the 746 people killed in drone strikes in Pakistan from 2006-2009, an incredible 20% were civilians and 94 (13% of the total) were children.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) offered condolences on the death of Helen Thomas, saying she will be “fondly remembered by the American Muslim community.”
Thomas, who died on Saturday at the age of 92, was the first female member of the White House press corps. She covered the White House from 1960 until 2010, when she resigned after making anti-Semitic remarks.
“We offer sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Helen Thomas, whose pioneering work helped shape the profession of journalism,” CAIR said in a statement Sunday.
“She will be fondly remembered by the American Muslim community and by all those who value a free press and transparent governance,” they said.

At a White House celebration for American Jewish Heritage Month, Thomas was asked by RabbiLive.com if she had any “comments on Israel.”
“Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine,” Thomas said. “Remember, these people are occupied, and it’s their land.”

While the gun rights of North Carolinians hang in the balance, Republican leadership can’t stop playing political games. They are being manipulated by the competing misguided interests of the NC Sheriffs’ Association (NCSA) and NRA.
The political angst has reached the level that Rep. Jacqueline Schaffer has begun emailing accusations that GRNC is spreading “inaccurate information”. GRNC President Paul Valone quickly responded:
“As I just told your legislative assistant, Sharon, I would love to know what is “inaccurate” about our reporting. My understanding was that to close what you yourself have called the “arming felons loophole,” sans repeal of all or part of the purchase permit statute, you suggested requiring NICS checks if purchase permits were older than 30 days. As we have said all along (and I have numerous positions issued to Republicans to this effect), punishing gun owners for the malfeasance of the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association is unacceptable to us. So please, tell me what is “inaccurate,” before I am forced to report to 87,000 gun owners that it is actually you who is disseminating false information.“
It is time to stop the blame game and pandering to NCSA and NRA. These organizations didn’t elect the Assembly. You did. Have they forgotten who they represent?

The pension nightmare that is at the heart of the horrific financial crisis in Detroitis just the tip of the iceberg of the coming retirement crisis that will shake America to the core. Right now, more than 10,000 Baby Boomers are hitting the age of 65 every single day, and this will continue to happen every single day until the year 2030. As a society, we have made trillions of dollars of financial promises to these Baby Boomers, and there is no way that we are going to be able to keep those promises. The money simply is not there. Yes, I suppose that we could eventually see a “super devaluation” of the U.S. dollar and keep our promises to the Baby Boomers using currency that is not worth much more than Monopoly money, but as it stands right now we simply do not have the resources to do what we said that we were going to do. The number of senior citizens in the United States is projected to more than double by the middle of the century, and it would have been nearly impossible to support them all even if we weren’t in the midst of a long-term economic decline. Tens of millions of Americans that are eagerly looking forward to retirement are going to be in for a very rude awakening in the years ahead. There is going to be a lot of heartache and a lot of broken promises.
What is going on in Detroit right now is a perfect example of what will soon be happening all over the nation. Many city workers stuck with their jobs for decades because of the promise of a nice pension at the end of the rainbow. But now those promises are going up in smoke. There has even been talk that retirees will only end up getting about 10 cents for every dollar that they were promised.
The Department of Justice civil rights unit sent to Sanford, Florida in 2012 to mediate the anti-George Zimmerman protests has a history of putting racial advocacy ahead of its mandated duties, according to a former head of the unit.
“At CRS headquarters, we (meaning I) regularly had to warn or take corrective action against career employees for acting as advocates instead of mediators,” Ondray Harris, the former director of the DOJ’s Community Relations Service (CRS), told The Daily Caller. CRS was the unit deployed to Sanford in 2012 to oversee anti-Zimmerman protests.
“Some CRS employees come to the Agency with anti-law enforcement or anti- what they would call the ‘white establishment’ [attitudes]” added Harris, an African American who joined CRS during the administration of George W. Bush in 2007 and left in 2010.
As The Daily Caller previously revealed, CRS reported expenses related to its deployment in Sanford to help manage anti-Zimmerman protests between March and April 2012, including a high-profile rally headlined by civil rights activist Al Sharpton. CRS also facilitated a meeting between Sanford city officials and the activist group Dream Defenders, which campaigned last year for a criminal case against Zimmerman to be brought for the killing of Trayvon Martin. Dream Defenders also advocated for the removal of Sanford police chief Bill Lee, who was eventually fired. The meeting was convened to discuss changes to the Sanford Police Department.

The CIA “repeatedly blocked” the departure of a security team that was ready “within minutes” to respond to the Sept. 11, 2012, terror attacks in Benghazi, Libya that claimed the lives of four Americans, according to Rep. Frank Wolf (R., Va.)
Wolf revealed on the House floor on Monday that “trusted sources have confirmed” to his office “that the security team was ready to respond within minutes after receiving the initial call for help, but the CIA repeatedly blocked their departure for more than 30 minutes.”
Although this team “ultimately disobeyed orders,” it was “too late to save” Ambassador Chris Stevens and U.S. official Sean Smith, both of whom were murdered during a terror attack on the U.S. compound.
“Why was the CIA’s security team repeatedly ordered to ‘stand down’ for more than 30 minutes after the attack began?” asked Wolf, who has taken to the House floor each day over the past week to pose what he says are unanswered questions about the Benghazi attack.

Russia will start building up its naval military presence in the Pacific Ocean in 2014, according to a top military official.
Speaking with Russia TV, Rear Admiral Sergei Avakyants, the Commander of the Pacific Fleet, said he would begin receiving new warships and equipment for the first time since the Soviet Union’s collapse, The Diplomat reports:
“Rather large-scale deliveries of new equipment, new warships to the Pacific Fleet will start in 2014,” Ria Novosti quoted him as saying.
According to the article, Rear Admiral Avakyants said the Pacific Fleet would be receiving at least one of the first two Mistral-class amphibious assault ships (helicopter carriers) that France is currently building for the Russian Navy.
