US Navy strikes groups idle in dock

Strong reluctance to stepping in to prevent the use of Syria’s chemical weapons was registered by President Barack Obama in an interview Monday, Jan. 28 to The New Republic: “In a situation like Syria, I have to ask: can we make a difference in that situation?” He then continued to ask rhetoricalally: “Could it trigger even worse violence or the use of chemical weapons? What offers the best prospect of a stable post-Assad regime? And how do I weigh tens of thousands who’ve been killed in Syria versus the tens of thousands who are currently being killed in Congo?”
Apples and oranges, commented one Washington observer, after hearing President Obama’s queries.

The outcome of the Bashar Assad’s ruthless 22-month effort  backed by Iran and Hizballah at the cost of 80,000 lives will bear profoundly on the next stage of Middle East history, whereas the local conflict between the Katangan militia and Congolese army, however savage, will hardly determine the destiny of continental Africa.

Obama’s remarks appear in the context of a working paper submitted three days ago to US Navy commander, Adm. Jonathan Greenert, which reports that aircraft flying hours in the Middle East have been cut by more than half. Naval experts estimate that the real figure is closer to 70 percent.
A current photograph released by the US Navy shows most of the American aircraft carrier fleet including Marine craft anchored at dock in the United States empty of crews. This fits in with past DEBKAfile disclosures of the fact that the White House last month withdrew US aircraft carriers from Middle East, Red Sea, Persian Gulf and African waters.

In New York, we have a prequel of what’s to come – the repeal of the Second Amendment and summary criminalization of peaceful citizens merely for possessing the means of self-defense, even in their own homes. As in Great Britain, citizens of NY face prison if they use proscribed weapons against murderous thugs – even in their own homes. The tyrants Michael Bloomberg and Andrew Cuomo have made their decision. Now New Yorkers will have to make theirs. And so will the rest of us – if, as seems likely, the federal tyrants succeed in issuing a New York-style fatwa that applies to the rest of the country. Which brings us to the question:

Netanyahu Deploys ‘Syrian’ Iron-Dome As Israeli Minister Claims US Preparing ‘Surgical’ Strikes Against Iran

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu says his nation must prepare for the threat of a chemical attack from Syria, amid concern at enemy efforts to test a post-election coalition Israel, and, as Bloomberg reports, has deployed its new Iron Dome anti-missile system near the border with its northern neighbor. Along with this concern, as many have perhaps suspected, the Israeli Defense Minister confirmed yesterday that the US has prepared plans for a ‘surgical’ military operation to delay Iran’s nuclear program.

As The Jerusalem Post reports, Ehud Barak, speaking in Davos, does not believe any military operation against Iran would devolve into a “full fledged war the size of the Iraqi war” but rather “there should be a readiness and an ability to launch a surgical operation that will delay them by a significant time frame and probably convince them that it won’t work because the world is determined to block them.”

Barak added that in the past the US has been heavy-handed but that under Barack Obama, the United States has “prepared quite sophisticated, fine, extremely fine, scalpels,” if the worse comes to the worst – even though the Israeli preference would be to end the nuclear threat diplomatically , calling for tougher sanctions (though he expressed doubt that diplomacy would lead to success).

Just another geopolitical hotspot that the world’s markets choose to ignore in deference to the one true leader – central bankers.

TLDavisIt is instructive to read this account of the battles of Lexington and Concord, even if it is from Wikipedia. It is important to understand the value of your local tribe and the commitment to arrive on the spot of contention. It is important to understand the delicate way in which the British attempted to do nothing other than confiscate the arms accumulated by the patriots.

Confusion on both sides; an unwillingness to go too far by either side; a disbelief in the actions being taken by each side all led to the start of a war. What started the war, really, was the intent of the British to execute a law. It sought to uncover and confiscate hidden caches of weapons. As one reads the account of these battles, one realizes that it was not the initial resistance that was important, but the reinforcements on both sides that escalated this abuse of government power into conflict.

Today we have an abusive federal government which has lost its understanding of itself. It has loosed itself from restraint, from reason, seeking only compliance and intolerant of legitimate demands of individual rights. As individuals, our rights are not recognized by any government body, especially the federal government that now acts to impose laws it has no legal right to issue. But, we are not safe in local governments either as the New York citizenry are now discovering.

WND report blows Iran nuke program wide open

News of an explosion at one of Iran’s nuclear facilities – broken exclusively by WND – is exploding around the world, with independent confirmation and international response pouring in.

On Sunday, for example, Israel’s acting defense minister called the news “welcome,” and a German newspaper said its own source in Tehran confirmed the report, even while Iran is trying to keep the news under wraps.

WND’s exclusive report revealed an explosion last Monday deep within Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility destroyed much of the installation, trapping scores of people, including scientists and workers, many of whom are foreign nationals.

According to a member of the security forces at the site, both elevators and the emergency exit had collapsed, and the regime fears loss of lives due to possible radiation after the explosion.

The information comes through Hamidreza Zakeri, a former member of the regime’s intelligence ministry.

It’s been well over a week since The NC Department of Agriculture Commissioner fell in line with President Obama’s plan to ban the private sales of any firearms following a recent incident at a gun show. After a negligent discharge of a shotgun at a recent gun show at the NC Fairgrounds in Raleigh, representatives of Agricultural Commissioner Steve Troxler saw fit to declare that private sales of any and all firearms would be banned for the rest of the show, and possibly all gun shows held on NC agricultural property in the future.

What do we see at the start of 2013?  New York and FedGov are working vigorously to remove guns from the hands of civilians.

The logic is irrefutable and echoed by senior members of our government.

Anita Dunn quotes Chairman Mao as one of her two favorite philosophers, and Ron Bloom (Manufacturing “Czar”) says “… We kind of agree with Mao that political power comes largely from the barrel of a gun… “

And at the start of 2013, blog news is sprinkled with hushed chatter about the new ‘litmus test’ for military command … a willingness to shoot citizens / civilians.

12,000 Peaceful People Arrested in Italy for Not Paying Taxes and Police Discover Thriving Black Market

Thanks to a lifetime of propaganda, people will argue relentlessly that taxation is not an act of violence, they will deny that it perpetuates a complicated form of slavery, and many times get deeply offended when you point out the fact that it is theft.

Yet, peaceful people are taken against their will and thrown in cages every day for not paying taxes. If this action was not carried by the state, everyone would recognize it as a violent kidnapping.

This year in Italy alone around 12,000 people had armed government workers trespass on their property, take them against their will and lock them up in a cage.

If any of these people made any attempts to defend themselves on their own property as they would against any other intruder, they would have been killed and treated as if they were the aggressor.

According to the AFP:

“Italy’s financial police said Thursday they had busted close to 12,000 people last year for evading over 56 billion euros ($74 billion) worth of taxes. Investigators rooted out 8,617 people who had never paid taxes and owed the Italian tax man a total of 22.7 billion euros, the financial police said in a statement.

Police also honed in on those using fake companies in tax havens to evade paying their dues, calculating 17.1 billion euros in Italian taxes were owed. Some 16.3 billion euros in “other forms of evasion” brought the total to 56.1 billion euros and police reported 11,769 people last year on suspicion of dodging tax.

THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.

RESOLVED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, two thirds of both Houses concurring, that the following Articles be proposed to the Legislatures of the several States, as amendments to the Constitution of the United States, all, or any of which Articles, when ratified by three fourths of the said Legislatures, to be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of the said Constitution; viz.

ARTICLES in addition to, and Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, proposed by Congress, and ratified by the Legislatures of the several States, pursuant to the fifth Article of the original Constitution.

The framers of the Constitution clearly understood that the states (the people), not a federal government were the basis of our Liberty. The Bill of Rights clarified and restricted the federal government for a simple reason: they knew that over time, a strong central government would abuse its powers. We are now living in this time.

Peter Schiff: I think it’s a shame but sometimes you elect the government you deserve. To say that we deserve Obama is quite a statement because it’s pretty bad to say that we deserve this. But we voted for him and we’re going to have four more years of growth in government, four more years of decline in our living standards, four more years of taxes and inflation and regulation and stagnation and unemployment. President Obama constantly talks about how unlucky he was that he inherited such a bad economy from his predecessor. Well, his successor is going to inherit an even worse economy than the one that he did. I think the economy is going to be in much worse shape in 2016 when Obama finishes his second term than it was in ’09 when Bush finished his second term.

Peter Schiff: They’re rigged in the sense that you can’t outvote the mob at this point. The government has created so many people who depend on government, who are voting for theft, who vote for somebody who promises to steal from somebody else and distribute the loot to their supporters. That’s the problem. This is the fatal flaw in democracy. That’s why the Founding Fathers, when they wrote the Constitution had the foresight to create a republic, not a democracy. The Founding Fathers called democracy mobocracy. They thought it was tyranny of the majority, which they feared as much as tyranny from a king. And so they built in all these safeguards to protect us from what they regarded as the evils of democracy but over time, those barriers have been removed and now we’re suffering exactly the way the Founding Fathers warned.

Karl Marx summed up Communism as “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” This is a good, pithy saying, which, in practice, has succeeded in bringing, upon those under its sway, misery, poverty, rape, torture, slavery, and death.

For the saying implies but does not name the effective agency of its supposed utopia. The agency is called “The State,” and the motto, fleshed out, for the benefit of the easily confused must read “The State will take from each according to his ability: the State will give to each according to his needs.” “Needs and abilities” are, of course, subjective. So the operative statement may be reduced to “the State shall take, the State shall give.”

All of us have had dealings with the State, and have found, to our chagrin, or, indeed, terror, that we were not dealing with well-meaning public servants or even with ideologues but with overworked, harried bureaucrats. These, as all bureaucrats, obtain and hold their jobs by complying with directions and suppressing the desire to employ initiative, compassion, or indeed, common sense. They are paid to follow orders.Rule by bureaucrats and functionaries is an example of the first part of the Marxist equation: that the Government shall determine the individual’s abilities.As rules by the Government are one-size-fits-all, any governmental determination of an individual’s abilities must be based on a bureaucratic assessment of the lowest possible denominator. The government, for example, has determined that black people (somehow) have fewer abilities than white people, and, so, must be given certain preferences. Anyone acquainted with both black and white people knows this assessment is not only absurd but monstrous. And yet it is the law.
