Voter ID Attacks Begin in North Carolina

NAACPThe usual suspects are organizing their efforts to stop voter ID legislation. It appears that there are three sides to this issue:

1. People who oppose any efforts to validate one vote per person. These people want to use voter fraud to steal elections (see below).

2. People who want photographic voter ID to suppress or disenfranchise a certain portion of the voting electorate (according to the people in classification 1).

3. The regular people who do not understand why this is even an issue. Both classifications 1 and 2 agree that voter suppression is wrong so why are we wasting time and resources over a period of years to resolve an issue that is not an issue when brought to the light of day? If you disagree with this assessment, ask anyone supporting their position to go on the record with their answer to this question: Do you support voter suppression?

Photographic identification is a common sense practice used by our state everywhere else. But I am biased in this matter: ignorance and wanting power over other people are never highly rated traits in my opinion. I am frustrated that people over 120 year old are voting in this state. There is no need to list other voting irregularities since the lines in this fight are drawn. This is just another method to keep us divided but more importantly, it is stealing our freedom by stealing our vote. I recommend reading our original state constitution to see how our forefathers guaranteed our private property based on voting requirements.

When the lines are finally drawn in stone, people who supported voter fraud to win elections will be on the wrong side of myline.

NC groups talk mobilizing efforts against voter ID

RALEIGH, N.C. — Groups opposed to likely legislation at the General Assembly this year requiring North Carolina citizens to show identification before voting in person already are rolling out a plan to fight it.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and American Civil Liberties Union in North Carolina and others scheduled a Legislative Building news conference Wednesday to unveil organizing efforts against voter ID proposals.

TLDavisThe battlespace is starting to firm up. Yes, I hear the law enforcement personnel who say that they might be 10% of their comrades who will stand. I hear Oathkeepers staying true to their sentiments about the Assault Weapons Ban. Maybe 10% of the Oathkeepers will keep their oath. There are two things that need to happen: 1) Good Cops Need To Declare Themselves Now, as a recent post suggested; 2) we need to start forming connections to each other, the gun community and those willing to stand for their oaths and defend them.

I know law enforcement is used to standing alone, relying on brothers in arms for their defense and the defense of the laws. Forget it, that day is over. Today, right now, there are only two different individuals in the nation: those who will support the Constitution and those who will try to destroy it. Pick a side already and start forming up with those in the militia, those in the gun community who will be reliable to you when you have to face the other 90% of your precinct.

Here is the other side to that, so be ready: we intend to restore the entire Constitution, which is to say that all of those little caveats that let cops violate the other amendments to the United States Constitution have to go along with all laws associated with restricting gun use. I know that sounds radical, but hear me out.

Franklin County, NC Commissioners’ Meeting – 2nd Amendment Resolution Introduced

“A Resolution to Preserve and Defend the United States Constitution and North Carolina Constitution” was introduced for consideration tonight (January 22, 2013) at the Franklin County Commissioners’ meeting. All commissioners had received an advance copy of the resolution (shown in its entirety below). This board is comprised of three Republicans and four Democrat commissioners but we will have to wait until at least February for the Democrats to ponder the merits of our 2nd amendment rights in this county. Commissioner Dunston is “vehemently opposed” to any further action on this resolution as seen at the end of this video:

This resolution is modeled on the successful Beaufort County, NC resolution. I would like to point out that the president did not issue an executive order for his 23 initiatives; it was an executive memo. This resolution should be submitted in all counties in North Carolina for passage (not consideration) by their county commissioners.

Italy’s Top Bank Lobbyist Resigns After Derivatives Disclosures

Former Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA Chairman Giuseppe Mussari quit as Italy’s top banking lobbyist as scrutiny of the lender’s use of derivatives deepens.

The resignation is effective immediately, he said in a letter posted to the Italian Banking Association today. He leaves as Monte Paschi, where he was chairman from 2006 until April, comes under growing pressure to disclose the extent of losses it faces on derivatives.

The lender fell 5.7 percent to 27.75 cents in Milan trading today, the biggest decliner in Europe’s 46-member Stoxx 600 Banks Index, after Il Fatto Quotidiano reported Monte Paschi’s former managers signed contracts with Nomura Holdings Inc. (8604) three years ago that will reduce 2012 earnings by 220 million euros ($293 million). Nomura said in a statement Mussari “fully reviewed and approved” the trade.

“I always acted according to the law,” Mussari, 50, wrote. “I took the decision to not damage the association.”

Monte Paschi said on Jan. 17 it will review its accounts after Bloomberg News first reported that the lender engaged in a derivative with Deutsche Bank AG in 2008 that obscured losses before the Siena-based bank sought a government bailout. The Italian lender, which was bailed out in 2009, is seeking 500 million euros more from taxpayers, bringing the total cost of its rescue to 3.9 billion euros.

False Flag of the Day

shooting-lone-star-collegeHOUSTON (KTRK) — Officials have confirmed three people were injured during a shooting at Lone Star College on WW Thorne Drive in north Houston and the situation is said to be under control.   We’re told two people are in custody.

We’re told two of the victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds, but were conscious when they arrived at Ben Taub Hospital.  Both have been taken into surgery in what’s being called ‘relatively serious condition.’

Lone Star College officials say the situation between two individuals ended with three people shot.  They add that the danger has been mitigated and the situation is under control.  We’re being told two people have been taken into custody.  One of the suspects was reportedly wounded in the shooting, and the other was arrested by a Houston Police Department SWAT team in a wooded area.

Students have told Eyewitness News one student and one staff member were injured.  This information has not been confirmed by officials.

The Lone Star College North Harris campus has been evacuated and is closed for the remainder of the day.  Authorities have sealed off the entrances, not allowing traffic on the campus.  Students are being allowed to drive out.  Staff and students are advised to check LoneStar.edu for further updates on campus operations.

US Taxpayers Pick Up Tab For US Military Missions In Mali “Assisting” The French

As reported previously, not only are there currently US boots on the ground in the latest geopolitical “anti Al-Qaeda” snafu in Mali, but it turns out a US presence had been secretly in place for many months prior to the recent escalation in French-led hostilities against the western African nation. And while this would likely have opened up numerous media inquiries under any other administration, so far these has been zero interest as to just why the US is “assisting” the French in this latest military deployment of military forces outside of the US: after all, one of the biggest complaints about US spending is that so much of it goes for military purposes (ignoring that all the tax revenues can’t even cover just the monthly entitlement spending of the nation).

Perhaps one reason is that, at least to date, the general consensus was that since the French operation in Mali is spearheaded and organized by the French, it is also funded by them. As it turns out that is not the case.

As Reuters reports, “The U.S. military has flown five C-17 cargo sorties into the Malian capital to help bring a French mechanized infantry unit into the fight against al Qaeda-affiliated militants in the north of the country, Pentagon officials said on Tuesday.” But surely the French are paying for these sorties which are there only to help the French, right? Wrong. “Little said the United States had decided not to seek compensation or reimbursement from France for the flights.” Luckily, the US is in such a healthy financial position it can afford to not only open one more front in the war against “Al Qaeda”, but will sign for the French tab too. With Joe Sixpack’s money of course.

A small group of U.S. military troops, including two communications personnel, have been on the ground at the airport at Bamako temporarily to help coordinate the logistics for the C-17 flights, a military official said.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said last week that while the United States supported France’s decision to put troops into Mali to stop the advance of al Qaeda affiliated troops toward Bamako, the Pentagon had no plans to put U.S. combat troops on the ground there.

New Yorkers Are Fighting Back

FIGHTIN’ WORDS: Self-declared gun nut John Noto protests in Albany over the weekend, as many gun lovers planned to defy a new law to register weapons.

Assault-rifle owners statewide are organizing a mass boycott of Gov. Cuomo’s new law mandating they register their weapons, daring officials to “come and take it away,” The Post has learned.

Gun-range owners and gun-rights advocates are encouraging hundreds of thousands of owners to defy the law, saying it’d be the largest act of civil disobedience in state history.

“I’ve heard from hundreds of people that they’re prepared to defy the law, and that number will be magnified by the thousands, by the tens of thousands, when the registration deadline comes,’’ said Brian Olesen, president of the American Shooters Supply, one of the largest gun dealers in the state.

“Many of these assault-rifle owners aren’t going to register; we realize that,’’ said a Cuomo-administration source who added that officials expect “widespread violations’’ of the new law. Owners who refuse to register could face a class-A misdemeanor — punishable by up to a year in prison.

It Is a Matter of Opinion Who Will Overcome

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.), speaking on “MSNBC Live” on Jan. 16 said that “some of the southern areas have cultures that we have to overcome” when it comes to gun control.

Rangel was asked by anchor Thomas Roberts whether new gun control measures passed in New York State should serve as models for other states:

“If you’re proud of what New York has done, obviously there is not going to be any perfect policy or perfect law that everybody is going to agree on from both sides saying that this is key perfection but do you think that New York, and what has been done in this state, could be used as a role model for other states that would like to enact something of New York’s model?”

They Have Always Been With Us

This 1918 letter, from a member of a citizens’ vigilante group calling itself the American Protective League to an official of the wartime U.S. Food Administration, reported on a food stash found in a Berkeley, Calif. home.

The Foran family, “reported to be hoarding food,” had “25 or 30 cases of foodstuffs” in their basement, including cans of such staples as corn, peaches, pork and beans, as well as a supply of plum pudding, pimentos, and beer. Mrs. Foran protested that she had carefully followed rationing rules in her purchase of flour and sugar, and explained that the family possessed so many canned goods because the father bought food wholesale every year.

While no action probably resulted from this raid, as the Forans were able to prove that they’d followed rationing guidelines, it’s astonishing to a modern reader to see that it was legal for a citizen group to enter another citizen’s home on the strength of a tip. Historian Joan Jensen writes that the Protective League flourished because the Attorney General, Thomas Watt Gregory, wanted to expand the authority of his Bureau of Investigation (which would later become the FBI). Desperate to make spectacular busts of German spies living inside the United States borders, Gregory authorized a Chicago advertising executive to bring together a group of volunteers—mostly businessmen—to help investigate suspects. The organization issued its own badges and awarded its members ranks and medals.

In practice, rather than bring in German spies, the APL ended up carrying out more prosaic missions: ferreting out food hoarders, hunting down draft-dodgers, and “protecting” factories with government contracts (which often meant union-busting).

In 1919, with the war safely over, Attorney General Gregory—who had begun to worry about the APL’s authority in the lives of everyday citizens—dismissed its members from service.
