In 2010, after a year in which the estate tax was zeroed out altogether, Congress passed a law that set the estate tax at 35 percent and exempted all estates under $5 million, adjusted for inflation. That law expires in January 2013 when the exemption will fall to $1 million and the tax will rise to 55 percent.

The equity markets have not panicked yet but I fear that is coming. There is a double edged sword here and both equally able to cut you. The first is that we go over the cliff and nothing happens and stalemate is not averted and we join John Lennon in “Nowhere Land” and hope and prayers give way to loss of faith and the prayers turn from a better day to thoughts that Salvation may not come. The second is that some deal is struck and that the effects of compromise are worse than the original construct. The crux of the problem is at the core of the values of the country. Some people want a more socialized environment where wealth is spread and those that earn pay for the lifestyles of those than do not or cannot while the opposite camp rejects that notion except for a safety net which is far below the desires of the other camp. America is divided and the lines are distinct. The socialization on the Continent has infected the American shores and the “have nots,” larger in numbers, are squared off with the “haves” in a fight to determine the core values of the country.

Revolution? Yes, it all sounds rather “extreme”, but the cold hard reality of our era is not going to comfort us with diplomacies and niceties, so honestly, why should I have to sugar coat anything? We live in extreme times and there is no longer room for prancing around the ultimate consequences of that which is taking place in America today. This country is increasingly sliding towards the edge of internal conflict. The Liberty Movement and true Constitutionalists see it, subsections of Republicans and Democrats see it, and most of all, the federal government sees it. In fact, they may even be counting on it.
Over the past two years alone, multiple draconian policies have been enacted through executive order by the Obama Administration which build upon the civil liberty crushing actions of George W. Bush and press far beyond. The Patriot Acts, the FISA domestic spy bill, the bailouts of corrupt international banks, attempts at CISPA and SOPA, actions like the NDAA authorizing the treatment of U.S. citizens as “enemy combatants” without rights to due process; all paint a picture so clear only a one-celled amoeba (or your average suburban yuppie) would not see it. You and I, and everyone else for that matter, have been designated potential targets of the state. Our rights have been made forfeit.
As AP discusses in this excellent article, ordinary Americans – defying decades of investment history – are selling stocks for a fifth year in a row. It’s the first time ordinary folks have sold during a sustained bull market since relevant records were first kept during World War II. The answer is both complex and simple but summed up best by a former stock analyst’s comment that in order to buy stocks “You have to trust your government. You have to trust other governments. You have to trust Wall Street, and I don’t trust any of these.” With Fed policy trying to force investors back into stocks (at any cost), a former fund manager notes, presciently that, “When this policy fails, as it will, baby boomers will pay the cost in their 401(k)s.” Are we the new ‘Depression Babies’? We suspect so.
Investors, as you well know, are leaving the equity markets in droves…
Based on AP’s calculations, individuals accounted for 40 percent to 50 percent of money going to U.S. stock ETFs in recent years.
If you assume 50 percent, individual investors have put $194 billion into U.S. stock ETFs since April 2007. But they’ve also pulled out much more from mutual funds – $580 billion. The difference is $386 billion, the amount individuals have pulled out of stock funds in all.
If you include the sale of stocks by individuals from brokerage accounts, which is not included in the fund data, the outflow could be much higher.
But why are investors not buying the propaganda this time and jumping in with both hands and feet…

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., plans to introduce sweeping gun-control legislation at the beginning of the congressional session in January.
“It [the bill] will ban the sale, the transfer, the transportation and the possession” of certain weapons, the California senator said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “Not retroactively, but prospectively. And it will ban the same for big clips, drums or strips of more than 10 bullets.”
The senator describes the proposal as a version of the assault-weapons ban that expired in 2004.
Feinstein’s legislation ban scores of firearms, including military-style “assault” weapons and high-capacity ammunition feeding devices. It also calls for the creation of a federal register that would require millions of gun owners to be fingerprinted and photographed.
The following is a summary of the legislation posted on Feinstein’s official senatorial website:
Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
120 specifically-named firearms
Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic

So the DHS, working with other law enforcement organizations, especially the TSA as it stands right now, will oversee the confiscation of assault weapons, which includes all semi-automatic weapons following a period of so-called amnesty. It also includes shotguns that hold multiple rounds, or have pistol grips. They will go after the high capacity magazines, anything over, say 5 rounds.
They will also go after the ammunition, especially at the manufacturer’s level. They will require a special license for certain weapons, and make it impossible to own anything. More draconian than England. This is a global thing too. Want to hunt? What gives you the right to hunt their animals? Sound strange? I hope so, but they believe they own the animals. Do you understand now, how sick and twisted this is? Their mentality?
The obvious intent is to disarm American citizens. They will say that we’ll still be able to defend ourselves and go hunting, but even that will be severely regulated. This is the part that they are still working out, though. While the plans were made years ago, there is some argument over the exact details. I know that Napolitano, even with her support of the agenda, would like to see this take place outside of an E.O. [Executive Order] in favor of legislative action and even with UN involvement.
You don’t know it. If you were a farmer without a radio during Pearl Harbor, you would not have known that the world had just gone to war and it would not end without the deaths of millions and millions. If you don’t know that the American Civil War Deux just started, I pity you for you have no radio.
Diane Feinstein declares her intent to ban all weapons capable (a very big word in the bill) of holding a clip of more than 10 rounds of ammunition, it doesn’t matter how big your clip is. If the gun is capable of holding a larger clip, it is banned.
President Barack Obama has declared that “we must change.”
Governor Cuomo of New York suggests that the government is quite capable of confiscating weapons, or engaging in a mandatory buy-back program. What the heck is a “mandatory buy-back program?” It sounds like they will take your weapon and maybe give you a few bucks for your trouble of bringing them in yourself.
If we are truly conservative, in the spiritual as well as the material sense, then we need to stop playing the same games as the greedy, godless monsters whom we claim to oppose.
For one, we need to stop playing the “who should be killed when the chaos comes” game – it is Evil. Period. “Judge not, lest ye be judged with the same judgement”
When (not if) the chaos comes, we will have a very small window of opportunity to preserve/restore rightful government at our local, county, and state levels, and then allow said rightful government to deal with those who have violated our natural and God given rights. Our rightful governments will do this through Due Process of Law – it can never be achieved by vengeful mobs of citizens…to think otherwise is to entertain the devil’s own temptation. So stop making war plans and kill-lists, and start developing plans with your neighbors and your community on how to preserve peace and just governance in the times of trial ahead.
There is no vindication of Liberty if we become the very image of that which we (and God) despise. And even if this were not the case, we must concede that in any given conflict, there is no demonstrable justice in who dies, or who lives but has a shattered life – the innocent are always the first and worst victims of civil war. If your heart is not sure of this plain truth; and/or if you are not spiritually prepared to enter this contest with the most profound apprehension of your actions in this regard, to restrain your passion for vengeance and to act in accordance with dignity throughout; then I pray that you make a hefty profit by selling your arms, ammunition, and accessories of violence now, before the test of divine justice is upon you.

The deal that seems possible to fix the U.S. budget is getting smaller and smaller.
Five days before a deadline that would trigger more than $600 billion in tax increases and spending cuts that could cause a U.S. recession, Congress will return Dec. 27 amid calls for action in the Senate.
The politics of progress there are easier than in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, which balked last week at Speaker John Boehner’s plan for tax increases on income above $1 million. Still, the House would have to sign off next. Boehner and President Barack Obama have been unable to agree on the tax-rate increase on top earners Obama wants or the cuts to entitlement programs that Boehner sought, complicating the chances of getting a package done.
“At this point, all they’re looking for is a fig leaf,” said Stan Collender, a former staff member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the House and Senate budget committees who’s now at Qorvis Communications in Washington. “There’s no grand bargain. There never was.”
Gun Owners:
If you labor under the misconception that Barack Obama’s proposed gun ban will encompass only “assault weapons,” you are about to get a wakeup call: Initial reports indicate the ban will be far more expansive than the one which expired in 2004, and will probably encompass hundreds of types of rifles, pistols and shotguns.
Do not think for a moment that just because you only own a handgun for self-protection, or a shotgun for hunting ducks, that Barack Obama doesn’t have you in his crosshairs. In coming months, you will see that Obama wants nothing less than a virtual end to gun ownership … and the freedom which accompanies it.

Last Wednesday, Obama called for new bans on what he mischaracterizes as “weapons of war,” and on “high capacity” magazines. He is also calling for closing the “gun show loophole,” which means registering all private gun sales with the FBI via the computerized National Instant Check System.
My favorite comment on the original site is – Reminds me of what the Swedish economist Assar Lindbeck once said, with reference to what The Bronx looked like back in the ’70s: “Rent control can do more damage to a city than the hydrogen bomb.”
