HIDALGO COUNTY, TEXAS — Every year, the federal government doles out roughly a billion taxpayer dollars to local law enforcement agencies in the form of grants. These agencies — city police and constables, state agencies, county sheriffs — apply for the grants through the Department of Justice’s COPS (for Community Oriented Policing Services) program and use them to hire more personnel, purchase vehicles and equipment, and enhance their crime-fighting capabilities.

But do the federal grants actually help fight crime?

Local law enforcement agencies insist that the grant money is vital to fighting crime and even to their departments’ survival. But is there a dark side to federalizing local law enforcement funding? PJ Media has obtained exclusive hidden camera video that shows federal grant money creates an incentive for local law enforcement to falsify their crime statistics. The fake stats tell a story that ends up benefiting the local agencies that clamor for the grants, while helping Washington sell its story that the border is safer than it really is.

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) – Just over a quarter of workers had returned on Monday to the platinum mine in South Africa where 44 men were killed last week in violent clashes, after mine owner Lonmin threatened to sack about 3,000 striking workers if they did not turn up.

A panel of investigators appointed by President Jacob Zuma is also expected at the sprawling Marikana mine about 100 kilometres (60 miles) northwest of Johannesburg, where 34 miners armed with spears, machetes and handguns were gunned down in a hail of police fire that brought back memories of apartheid-era violence.

Ten people were killed prior to the police shooting, including a shop steward from the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), who was hacked to death.

The above assessment may not account for 100% of our economic collapse: we have to include corruption and incompetence in Washington, DC to have a complete accountability of the causes. But here is the incredible part: not only were the people complacent (and therefore culpable) in the demise of the republic, we still argue that political parties are the solution. The small percentage of the people who understand our financial debt crisis are blinded by supporting only one solution: get Obama out of office.

Alright. I agree that this president has not only destroyed our economy and social structure, he has also destroyed the Democrat party. Good. If we destroy the Republic party, we have a chance to save the republic. Step one is to stop arguing for our ignorance. Americans At Or Below 125% Of The Poverty Level – Who Will They Vote For?

From AP: “the number of Americans with incomes at or below 125 percent of the federal poverty level – the income limit for qualifying for legal aid – is expected to reach an all-time high of 66 million this year. A family of four earning 125 percent of the federal poverty level makes about $28,800 a year, government figures show.” And visually…

As usual, if anyone expects these 66 million Americans (over 20% of the US population) to vote for someone who dares to even think about taking away any of the entitlements said tens of millions of people are used to, then by all means buy Las Vegas real estate.

54-Year-Old Italian Dies After Self-Immolating In Front Of Parliament

First Tunisia, then Greece, now Italy (the same Italy where the economy is “picking up” where yields are “stable”, and where much “progress” is being made).

FromReuters: “A 54-year-old man died on Sunday after setting himself on fire outside the Italian parliament last week to highlight his struggle with unemployment, police said. Angelo di Carlo suffered 85 percent burns after the incident in front of the lower house of parliament – the Chamber of Deputies – in central Rome during the early hours of August 11, Italian media reported. Police on duty nearby put out the flames with fire extinguishers and took him to hospital. The widower was facing economic difficulties after losing his job and had struggled for years before that with temporary work contracts that offered little protection or benefits, according to media reports…Di Carlo’s death is the latest in a wave of highly publicized suicides linked to financial woes in recent months which have highlighted the human cost of the country’s economic crisis.”

It won’t be the last. But for as long as the myth that the welfare state is “sustainable” exists, do not expect the Arab Spring domino effect that took the MENA region by storm following the self-immolation of Mohamed Bouazizi in late 2010 to be replicated in Europe any time soon. After all, “developed world” people are still convinced they have far too much to lose if they even consider a revolution: thank you Bismarck.

Former Marine Arrested For Patriotic Posts On Facebook

First the establishment started going after current serving military men for their outspoken political views on Facebook and other web venues, men like Marine Sergeant Gary Stein.  Now, it seems the government is going after veterans as well.  This is the classic pattern of a burgeoning totalitarian state; attack a small group first (outspoken serving military) which the public ignores because it affects them little personally, then slowly expand out to eventually include everyone else.  To all those insipid bottom feeders out there who refused to defend Gary Stein’s right to free speech, here is what you have wrought.  Because of your ignorance, the government has been able to set a social precedent which they now plan to apply to a whole new group of people, starting with former Marine Brandon Raub.  The common statist slave will give the typical coward’s response, which would sound a little something like this:

“…When are people going to learn that Facebook isn’t private?  You would have to be stupid to express such views where everyone can see…”

“They didn’t arrest him, they just ‘detained’ him…”

“He’s former military and should be ‘ashamed’ of his comments against the government., blah blah blah, etc…”

The bottom line is, the 1st Amendment is NOT conditional.  ALL speech must be protected, no matter who you are, or where you happen to be speaking.  Just because our current criminal government decides 1st Amendment protections do not apply to Facebook does not mean they have the authority to make such distinctions.  In fact, the Constitution explicitly outlines how they are restricted from making such distinctions.  If a government entity, ANY government entity, attempts to violate Constitutional restrictions, it must be removed by any means necessary.

Grassroots North Carolina just issued the following ALERT:

On Monday, August 6th, the Johnston County Board of Commissioners silently adopted over-reaching new noise ordinances designed to, among other things, silence virtually all gunfire within the County. The only exemptions allowed for under the new proposals are for hunting, self-defense, and the odd circumstances “pursuant to lawful directions of law-enforcement officers”. With only these exemptions in place, virtually all other forms of gunfire could subject you to a Class III misdemeanor charge under the new laws!

Despite reaching a reasonable agreement last year between the County and residents and forming a policy based on mutual respect, the Johnston County Board of Commissioners this time swept away this agreement and voted unanimously to adopt the new laws without your input! Only random chance prevented these new proposals from becoming law in August, which was due to one of the Commissioners not being present to vote. Due to state law, the proposals now require a second vote with all Commissioners being present.

 Last chance to be heard!

The second vote is scheduled for at the next Board of Commissioners meeting on September 4th at 6:00pm. If the proposal receives a majority vote, it will then become the law of the land in Johnston County. This is your one chance to attend the meeting and have your voice heard! All concerned residents of Johnston County should attend the meeting in order to insure that your rights are not discarded by the Board of Commissioners.

In his respectful fashion, Paul Valone has requested a polite communication to the County Commissioners.  We tried that last year.  See how well that worked?

I have seen this flag flying at gas stations in Georgia and was recently asked what was the name of the flag and what did it represent.  From Good Old Rebel:

This article features the history behind The Bonnie Blue Flag, while it was not an official flag of the Confederacy; it still became a much-loved symbol of Southern Independence.

The Bonnie Blue Flag consists of a single white star upon a field of blue.  This flag was originally the national flag of the Republic of West Florida, which existed for 74 days during 1810. The flag was first raised at a Spanish fort in Baton Rouge on September 23, 1810 after the territory of West Florida revolted against Spanish rule.

This use of the flag as a symbol of revolt is likely what inspired it to be adopted by the South during the War Between the States.  The Republic of West Florida not only encompassed part of what is now the State of Florida but also Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.  When Mississippi announced its secession from the Union on January 9, 1861, the Bonnie Blue Flag was hoisted over the capitol in Jackson.  During this event, an Irish immigrant named Harry McCarty was present and later penned the song “The Bonnie Blue Flag” which became an immensely popular marching tune during the war. The tune’s popularity only further served to increase the flag’s popularity in the Southern states.   Today, the flag is still used to represent the South and the ideals of states’ rights.

Criminals or false flag? Or both? Here is an excerpt from an article that is filled more with innuendo than information:

Sovereign citizens are a loosely organized movement founded in the 1970s and more fully developed in the 1980s, according to the Anti-Defamation League website. Sovereign citizens believe that all levels of government have no jurisdiction over them and resist — sometimes with violence — authority including police, the website said.

They also like to use what is dubbed “paper terrorism.” It involves using frivolous lawsuits and fake documents and of using genuine documents such as IRS forms to intimidate, harass and coerce public officials, law enforcement officers and private citizens.

Is Netanyahu Stupid?

Debka is reporting that Obama is negotiating with Israel to attack Iran in the Spring. Really? Iran will have weapons’ grade material in October and it is reported that biological and chemical attacks are already in place in major Israeli cities. Netanyahu understands that Obama cannot be trusted: especially when it comes to the security and sovereignty of a country. Just look at the United States. Obama has opened the borders not only to illegal aliens but to terrorists. Does anyone feel more secure now than three years ago? We have flash mob attacks with no consequences across the country.

Forget all of the politics and media propaganda. Consider these facts:

  1. Netanyahu is a strong leader who understands which leaders he can trust.
  2. Iran has consistently called for the destruction of the Zionist state.
  3. Iran will have nuclear capability in October (or as some sources are reporting, Iran already has North Korean warheads).
  4. As of today, Obama knows he will not be reelected so these alleged promises are worthless.

And the final question that Netanyahu must be asking himself is what will an additional six months do except give Iran more time to develop military and terrorist capabilities? And the answer to the question posed in the title of this article is simple: Netanyahu is not stupid.

ATP Oil And Gas Files For Bankruptcy, CEO Blames Obama

Now that the “alternative energy” industry is in shambles following one after another solar company bankruptcy, as the realization that at current prices, alternative energy business models are still just too unsustainable, no matter how much public equity is pumped into them, more “traditional” companies have resumed circling the drain. First, it was Patriot Coal, which finally succumbed to reality a month ago. Now it is the turn of ATP Oil and Gas, which filed Chapter 11 in Texas last night. And sure enough, in a world in which nobody is to blame, and everything is someone else’s fault, the CEO promptly made a case that he is blameless and it is all Obama’s fault. According to Forbes: “The founder and chairman of [ATP Paul Bulmahn] wants the world to know that the Obama Administration—and its illegal ban on deepwater drilling in the wake of the BP disaster—is to blame for the implosion of his company. Not him. “It is all directly attributable to what the government did to us,” he rails. “This Administration has gone out of its way to create problems for my company, the company that I formed from scratch.”

Forbes continues:

He’s more than angry. Bulmahn, 68, has already brought suit against the U.S. government seeking damages ($68 million to start with) for the 2010 moratorium that shut down deepwater operations in the Gulf of Mexico for the better part of a year. In an earlier case brought by ATP and rig company Ensco, Federal District Judge Martin Feldman ruled in May 2011 that the feds “acted unlawfully by unreasonably delaying action” on drilling permit applications. Still, ATP has a long, winding road to any hope of recovering damages from the government (which says it’s protected from claims by sovereign immunity).
