Current US Politics … as predicted in 1851

Does this sound like our current events ?

But the process, as regards the concentration of power, would not stop at this stage. The government would gradually pass from the hands of the majority of the party into those of its leaders; as the struggle became more intense, and the honors and emoluments of the government the all-absorbing objects. At this stage, principles and policy would lose all influence in the elections; and cunning, falsehood, deception, slander, fraud, and gross appeals to the appetites of the lowest and most worthless portions of the community, would take the place of sound reason and wise debate. After these have thoroughly debased and corrupted the community, and all the arts and devices of party have been exhausted, the government would vibrate between the two factions (for such will parties have become) at each successive election. Neither would be able to retain power beyond some fixed term; for those seeking office and patronage would become too numerous to be rewarded by the offices and patronage at the disposal of the government; and these being the sole objects of pursuit, the disappointed would, at the next succeeding election, throw their weight into the opposite scale, in the hope of better success at the next turn of the wheel. These vibrations would continue until confusion, corruption, disorder, and anarchy, would lead to an appeal to force — to be followed by a revolution in the form of the government. Such must be the end of the government of the numerical majority;

DERIVATIVES: Bank downgrades trigger billions in collateral calls

PROOF POSITIVE that  The End Has Begun

(International Financing Review)  6/30/2012  A series of ratings downgrades from Moody’s last week has created an unwelcome but manageable liquidity squeeze on three major banks, by forcing them to post billions of dollars in additional collateral against derivatives exposures.

Moody’s completed its rating review of international banks last Thursday and downgraded three major derivatives dealers below the crucial Single A threshold, which will likely have led to hefty collateral calls from counterparties.

Citigroup’s two-notch long-term rating downgrade from A3 to Baa2 could have led to US$500m in additional liquidity and funding demands due to derivative triggers and exchange margin requirements, according to the bank’s 10Q regulatory filing at the end of the first quarter.  Continue reading

STUPID, STUPID JACKASSES – ANN BARNHARDT

Ann BarnhardtIt isn’t just Lindsey Graham that is a stupid, stupid jackass. If you’re buying any of this, “Everything’s fine! We actually WON on ObamaCare, and Roberts is a genius!” jackassery, then go look in the mirror and behold the Sombrero of all Asshats. Are you detecting ire? Are you getting the sense that I’m just a LITTLE pissed off? It’s one thing to watch a bunch of godless, drug-addled, moloch-worshiping Marxist dumbasses spew mental diarrhea, but to have to sit and watch pretty much everyone on the right do the same thing is just too much. Do you people not have functioning brains? Is there truly no capacity for any intelligent thought or the ability to recall and parse objective facts and evidence? Really?Let’s start with an analogy. Defending this week’s SCOTUS decision is directly analogous to the following: Continue reading

Reality Dawning

The truth of America’s perilous financial position in the world is being revealed, and the pace of discovery has begun to escalate quite a bit in the past month.  The lies and illusions which the talking heads of government and the lame-stream media have been paid to blast out to the populace day after day are wearing through, and it is becoming more and more difficult for the powers that be to sustain the illusory claims that we are in a recovery, or that a resolution to the European issues is “just around the corner”.

As I have previously warned, and detailed herehere, here, and here, the US is sliding down the slippery slope towards an inevitable economic collapse and subsequent loss of status as issuer of the world’s Reserve Currency.  The financial collapse of Europe has been achieved, and similar destruction is being rapidly consummated in Russia, China, and India, along with the US.  Everything must be brought low so that it may be “rebuilt” in the form most desirable to those who pull the strings and count their kings – all behind the curtain, of course.  Continue reading

Did We Forget or Just Give Up?

The Wolf and the Lamb

A wolf, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to the Lamb the Wolf’s right to eat him. He thus addressed him: “Sirrah, last year you grossly insulted me.” “Indeed,” bleated the Lamb in a mournful tone of voice, “I was not then born.” Then said the Wolf, “You feed in my pasture.” “No, good sir,” replied the Lamb, “I have not yet tasted grass.” Again said the Wolf, “You drink of my well.” “No,” exclaimed the Lamb, “I never yet drank water, for as yet my mother’s milk is both food and drink to me.”

Upon which the Wolf seized him and ate him up, saying, “Well! I won’t remain supperless, even though you refute every one of my imputations.”

The tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny.

Although this is an Aesop’s fable, our situation in America today is much worse. The pretext for tyranny is not justified only by the politicians in Washington: they are justified by people who are trying to find meaning in this week’s Supreme Court decision validating health care as a tax instead of its Constitutionality. We may never know the real reasons behind John Roberts’ decision but we must overlook the endless analyses of the case and focus on our future. In particular, we must focus on our Liberty. Let’s start at the beginning.

The first question, accordingly, to be considered is — What is that constitution or law of our nature, without which government would not exist, and with which its existence is necessary? Continue reading

U.S. sends message to Israel, Iran, schedules joint military exercise with IDF

Senate votes for greater military support of Israel including what could be seen as direct support for an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear program.

A joint U.S.-Israeli military exercise in 2006.

In an apparent attempt to signal to Israel and Iran that the United States means business with regards to Israel’s security, a top U.S. military officer said on Friday that the United States and Israel are expected to hold a delayed, joint military exercise sometime around October or November, after postponing it earlier this year.

In addition to the military exercise, the U.S. Senate voted for a bill affirming U.S. commitment to Israel as well as calling for an array of further actions to be taken to this end, some of which could be seen as direct support for an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear program in case the diplomatic negotiations currently taking place fail to get Iran to cooperate with the west.

Army General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he wasn’t sure what the final decision was on timing after high-level talks in Israel this week.

Indiana to bill feds $131M for expenses linked to illegal immigrants

Profile PictureINDIANAPOLIS | Indiana plans to bill the federal government $130,953,979, the estimated cost of state services used by illegal immigrants since July 1, 2011.

A 2011 law, sponsored by state Sen. Mike Delph, R-Carmel, requires state budget officials to determine how much Indiana spends annually to support illegal immigrants.

The estimate includes $111 million for education, $8 million for health care and $12 million for prisons.

“The federal government is to blame for not controlling our borders,” Delph said. “I am requesting Congress to pay back what is owed to us, the hard-working, law-abiding, legal residents of the state of Indiana.”

Source

From Sen. Delph’s Facebook page:

Today the State of Indiana as a result of SEA 590, sent a bill to Speaker John Boehner (R, Ohio) and to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D, Nevada) seeking reimbursement of $130,000,000 plus in expenses as a result of the failure of the Federal government to do its job regarding immigration enforcement. If the Feds are going to tell us it’s their problem and we as a sovereign state cannot engage in their responsibility, then they should at least reimburse state and local taxpayers for our costs. It’s only fair! Today also is the day I decided I just don’t care anymore. I am going after any enabler of the Ivory Tower Elite Establishment that chokes American freedom! I will start next week with a well known statewide Republican officeholder and candidate. If this week didn’t stir the conscience of American Patriots, nothing will.

Aviation Week: Obama may use Assad’s fall to disguise Iran strike

US B-2 heavy stealth bomber - key aircraft for Iran strikeThe new Aviation Week reports: “Evidence is mounting that the US defense community and the Obama administration view 2013 as the likely window for a bombing attack on Iran’s nuclear and missile facilities. It could be earlier, timed to use the chaos of the Syrian government’s fall to disguise such an attack…”

According to the journal, “Iran’s intransigence over shutting down its uranium-enrichment program will not buy it much more time… The tools for such an attack are all operational” and the US is coming around to suspect that Iran has already conducted its first nuclear test in North Korea.

Aviation Week’s report appeared after a failed attempt Friday, June 29, to bridge US-Russian differences on Syria was made by US Secretary of State and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in St. Petersburg. Moscow refuses to accept any solution that would entail Bashar Assad’s removal or foreign intervention in Damascus.

Happy Secession Day

by Thomas J. DiLorenzo

Perhaps the best evidence of how American history was rewritten, Soviet style, in the post-1865 era is the fact that most Americans seem to be unaware that “Independence Day” was originally intended to be a celebration of the colonists’ secession from the British empire. Indeed, the word secession is not even a part of the vocabulary of most Americans, who more often than not confuse it with “succession.” The Revolutionary War was America’s first war of secession.

America’s most prominent secessionist, Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration, was very clear about what he was saying: Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and whenever that consent is withdrawn, it is the right of the people to “alter or abolish” that government and “to institute a new government.” The word “secession” was not a part of the American language at that time, so Jefferson used the word “separation” instead to describe the intentions of the American colonial secessionists.

The Declaration is also a states’ rights document (not surprisingly, since Jefferson was the intellectual inspiration for the American states’ rights political tradition). This, too, is foreign to most Americans. But read the final paragraph of the Declaration which states: Continue reading

Power To The Admiring Serfs

I am grateful to Justice Roberts for making the last fatal decision of the Supreme Court. It has taken the mask of righteousness away from that body for good. They cannot go back, they cannot appear true arbiters of Constitutionality. To the extent that this ruling has dropped the scales from the eyes of the Tea Party, the medical establishment and the religious, who thought there could be some rational conclusion coming from one government body to another, it was good news.

The Supreme Court is government as much as any senator or congressman, as much as any president. It is clear that validating the goals and desires of government is the purpose of the Supreme Court in this age, even if they have to rewrite the law to do it.
