The Money Quote

Besides, if you expect the dollar to fail, as dominant fiat currencies historically have, then “the top” doesn’t matter — if the bottom for fiat is zero, then there’s no meaningful top for hard assets like gold in fiat terms. And just as you didn’t want to be the last schmo holding seashells when no sane person would give you even the tiniest sliver of gold in exchange, it’s wise of central banks to avoid being the last ones trying to trade worthless paper for gold that, when fiat is functionally dead, will be infinitely more valuable.

Biden Promises Israel ‘Ironclad’ Support Against Iran, Walks Back Call For Unilateral Ceasefire

President Joe Biden has promised “ironclad” support for Israel at a moment US intelligence believes that Iranian reprisals for the April 1st Damascus embassy attack are imminent. The only question that remains is whether it will be a direct attack launched from Iranian soil, or via proxies like Hezbollah.

“As I told Prime Minister Netanyahu, our commitment to Israel’s security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad,” Biden said Wednesday. “Let me say it again — ironclad. We’re going to do all we can to protect Israel’s security.” He explained this is in response to Tehran “threatening to launch a significant attack on Israel.”

The rumor was that Biden would have Israel pull its forces from Gaza in exchange for Iran not attacking US targets in retribution for the attack in Syria on the Iranian consul. The rumor was that Biden would not retaliate when Iran launched its attack on Israel if there were no US targets hits. Rumors are effective propaganda for those who hope for peace. It appears that Biden’s masters have committed the US to another war in the Middle East.

A bankrupt nation with a woke military and a population on the edge of a civil war are not conducive to winning wars. While the Middle East may become the flashpoint, be assured that every other flashpoint in the world will exploit it.

“Literally Gas Lighting”: The Hilarious Reason For Today’s PPI Miss: Seasonally Adjusted Gas Prices

There was something glaringly odd in today’s PPI print.

Looking at the core number (excluding food and energy), we find that according to the BLS, the only reason PPI was even positive in March is because of services, where the biggest source of upside was the “index for securities brokerage, dealing, investment advice, and related services, which rose 3.1 percent.” In other words, everyone was rushing to open a brokerage account so they can trade Jeo Boden or some other [crypto].

That’s right, as shown in the chart below, according to the BLS, the seasonally-adjusted gas price in March magically dropped by 3.6% even though the unadjusted, as in real, gas price rose by 6.3%, exactly what the AAA also reported in its daily summary of what gas prices across the US truly are.

Requiem for a Culture, Part 6: The End of Reconciliation

Southern partisans, especially those who have ancestors who fought in the War for Southern Independence, are well aware of the depredations that have been visited upon Southern monuments in the last three or four years. The process culminated late last year with the desecration of two cherished monuments, the statue of General Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the Confederate Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. I’ll give a brief recapitulation of these events for readers who may not be familiar with what happened.

A bronze statue of General Lee, the commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, had stood since the 1920s in a little park next to the library in downtown Charlottesville. The “Unite the Right” false-flag fiasco in 2017 started the ball rolling on the statue’s removal. Late that summer General Lee and his horse Traveller were covered with a burka to prevent passers-by from being triggered by the sight. Then in 2020 the fentanyl overdose of Saint George Floyd provided the coup de grâce: the following year the statue was finally removed from its plinth. To make sure that the South would never rise again, last October the revered general was cut into pieces and melted down.

The widely-published photo of General Lee’s molten bronze face was like a knife in the heart for Southern partisans (or at least for this one).
