Here is the complete filing for the case. I do not presume to know how much money two human lives are worth. I do know that monetary payouts without penalties for the guilty parties are not what justice is about. In this case, the taxpayers and the insurance companies will have to pay for “justice”. This is not the first time that the conduct of county employees have been cause for raiding the pockets of the county’s taxpayers.
I believe I speak for a large number of Cherokee County, NC taxpayers when I say the people should not be accountable for government employees’ actions.
