The creators of a new “Scooby-Doo” movie have finally depicted Velma as a lesbian on screen, after years of speculation about the beloved character’s sexuality but no definitive portrayals of her as queer in the popular cartoon franchise.
Velma crushes on another female character, a costume designer named Coco Diablo, in a Halloween special, “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo,” that was released online Tuesday and will debut on Cartoon Network on Oct. 14. She’s voiced by actor and comedian Kate Micucci.
In one scene, Velma’s glasses fog up and her cheeks redden as she fawns over Coco. “Jinkies,” Velma says — her classic tag line. She flirts with Coco throughout the movie, clearly smitten.
Velma’s queer sensibilities have long made her a favorite of LGBTQ fans of “Scooby-Doo.” While some of the producers of certain iterations of the show have previously confirmed her character isn’t straight, she hasn’t outwardly flirted or expressed such strong attraction to other female characters in the decades long history of the franchise.

Ok, the Nord pipeline incidents.
Sigh. I shouldn’t do this, but …
I call them “incidents” for a reason. I grew up in overseas oilfields. I try to, by training, observe everything from as objectively neutral a viewpoint as possible.
In my experience when anything involving energy-industry hydrocarbons explodes … well, sabotage isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. And honestly, when it comes to a pipeline running natural gas under Russian (non)maintenance, an explosion means that it’s Tuesday. Or Friday. Or another day of the week ending in “y”.
“But, LawDog,” I hear you say, “It was multiple explosions!”
Yes, 17 hours apart. No military is going to arrange for two pipes in the same general area to be destroyed 17 hours apart. Not without some Spec Ops guy having a fit of apoplexy. One pipe goes up in a busy shipping lane, in a busy sea, and everyone takes notice. Then you wait 17 hours to do the second — with 17 hours for people to show up and catch you running dirty? Nah, not buying it.
The Nord pipelines weren’t in use. To me, that means it’s time for maintenance! Hard to maintain pipes when product is flowing.
Pipelines running methane, under saltwater, require PMCS* quicker than you’d think, and more often than you’d believe.
I would bet a cup of coffee that any of the required weekly and monthly checks and services since the Russians took over have been pencil-whipped. (See Andreev Bay 1982.)
They officially shut it down in July of 2020 for maintenance, and had cornbread hell getting it back on-line, and “issues” with maintaining flow throughout the next year; shut it down again in July of 2021, with bigger “issues” — we say “issues” because the Russians won’t explain what these issues were — and even more problems, including unexplained, major disruptions in gas flow in Dec21/Jan22; Feb 22; and April 22.
Yeah, there’s problems with those lines. And these are the same folks that PMCS’d Chernobyl.
So. They’ve got pipelines with issues that are currently pressurised (with highly flammable, if not outright explosive, natural gas/methane), but not moving product. It’s time to find out what those issues are.
And they blew up. My shocked face, let me show you it. Next time, tell Sergei to put out the cigarette before pulling a pressure test.
Is there a possibility of sabotage? Yeah. Especially in the current world situation — but folks thought the Kursk went down because of hostile actions, too.
So, yes, hostile actions are a possibility, but mass amounts of explosive hydrocarbon gas + 300 feet down under salt water + shoddy Russian maintenance = “Nobody could have possibly seen this coming”, and yet another entry into the extensive Wikipedia page on “Soviet/Russian disasters”.
“But what issues could happen in an undersea pipeline that could cause ruptures?”
Oh, my sweet summer child. Many, many, many. You might go far as to ask, “What issues won’t cause a rupture in an undersea pipeline?” — It’d be easier to list.
However, in this case involving a natural gas pipeline under the pressure of 300 to 360 feet (8 atmospheres to 10 atm.) of water, I’d like you to turn your eyes towards a fun little quirk of nature called “methane hydrates”.
Well, actually, I’d like you to meditate upon “hydrate plug”, but give me a moment.
Under certain circumstances of pressure, temperature, and water presence natural gas/methane will form solid hydrates, with concomitant amounts of fun.
For the Chinese definition of fun, anyway.
Keeping hydrates from forming is a constant battle, requiring vigilance, expertise, diligence, and constant water removal. If any of these things slack at any time — you’re getting hydrate formation.
The presence of solid hydrates in a pipeline can cause flow issues (causing cracks), destabilize the pipe itself (more cracks), and cause fires (bad. Very Bad), but the big issue (pun intended) is when you form enough hydrates that it blocks the pipe entirely (see: Hydrate plug, above).

Regulations, Russia, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization? They all will be, but no one with a recognizable face or name will pay any price.
The war fueled by the US and NATO’s expansionism and military involvement in Ukraine has worsened Europe’s energy problem. In Poland, citizens are lining up in their cars a mile from coal mines to buy enough fuel to prepare for winter. Due to the increased demand caused by the European Union’s embargo on Russian coal, Polish families worry they won’t have enough for the cold season.
“This is beyond imagination; people are sleeping in their cars,” Artur, 57, a pensioner, told Voice of America.
“I remember the communist times, but it didn’t cross my mind that we could return to something even worse.”
Prior to the embargo, Poland was under pressure from EU environmental policy. To Polish families that rely on coal, Russian imports were a household staple due to lower costs. With Poland banning coal from Russia, locals must rely on coal from Polish state-controlled mines, which have rationed sales recently due to the high demand.
On a recent Tucker Carlson Tonight episode, the Fox News host covered the struggle of Europeans trying to secure heat for winter.
Although demographic replacement is the most obvious seismic change in America, being so visibly obvious, with the breakneck increase in accepted sexual degeneracy keeping pace in a close second, there is another change in our nation that is mirrored across the formerly White Western world: the utter collapse of public, organized religion. More specifically Christianity. Pew Research recently released a very large study of religious trends and it is not good news for organized religion (although that doesn’t mean it is all bad news for Christianity).
There was a time when almost everyone expressed some sort of affiliation with Christianity. In 1972, the year after I was born, a survey was started that asked about religious affiliation. As of that first survey better than 90% of Americans identified with Christianity. As everyone knows that affiliation has been slumping but most people don’t realize quite how much nor how precipitously it has diminished since the 1990s.
To make matters a little worse, that 63% likely still includes double digit percentages of people who claim a Christian affiliation but haven’t been to church in many years and don’t have any attachment to the faith apart from a family connection. From my experience after decades in the Christian church, I can say with an enormous level of confidence that most “Christians” in America know very little about their professed faith and what they do know is wrong. It is a cultural identifier, something to give them some sort of identity and deflect the proselytization of the zealous. They don’t read their Bible or attend services and only pray when something really bad is going on.
The real percentage of people that actually believe and practice the Christian faith is probably closer to 25%, and that is being really generous. Christianity is supposed to be a whole-life transformative faith (“You must be born again”), not something you pull out of your back pocket when things are crappy and you need some comfort. That is true for very few people.
Dear everyone, who is nervously looking around and is asking “What the hell is going on?”
I hope this isn’t too controversial. It’s certainly frightening, but I believe we are still on the right side of disaster & if enough of us become aware of what is happening here & everywhere in the democratic world, we can recover the situation. We really don’t have long. I believe it’s likely things will change irretrievably over this coming winter. Hence this urgent and unusual request.
Everything that’s happened and is happening becomes much simpler and it all makes sense, only when you force yourself to think the impossible.
If you experimentally adopt the position that OUR GOVERNMENT IS ACTIVELY WORKING TO HARM US, TO DISMANTLE MODERN SOCIETY & ENSLAVE ALL PEOPLE IN A DIGITALLY CONTROLLED TOTALITARIAN WORLD, it all fits. Nothing is surplus.
Even if your immediate response is that this is absurd, please try it for a day or so.
I ask you further to adopt the experimental position that the media, controlled by just six global corporations, all allied to a single global organization you’ve all heard of, is relentlessly lying to you and has been doing so for over 2.5 years. Same for the internet, controlled by fewer global corporations, also all allied to that same global organization.
