Personally I’m more of a fan of arming the populace than a select few armed guards.
If most everyone was armed with a gun on their hip, the animals would fear breaking laws or assaulting people.

In the last week, in Chicago, citizens shot carjackers in 2 different incidents. And 1 catalytic converter thief was shot. The thief was armed. Almost all catalytic converter gangs have armed associates with them. So, use caution.
