It’s not a need, it’s a right!
Just reading the title of this video my thought was, if we have to tell you, you are too clueless to do any prepping!
The person calling long range to moderate range self defense, murder, is someone who doesn’t understand survival at all. Murder requires criminal intent. If a situation exists that you have known violent attackers coming to your location, it is tactical good sense to stop them at the furthest possible distance. Period. It’s not a sporting event. It’s survival. There are no rules, other than don’t lose.
Yes, and if you’re in a fair fight you’ve prepared poorly.
“Reach out and touch someone” isn’t just a slogan for Ma Bell…..
My minimum “sniper” practice is a 500 yards open sight with slightly tricked 700, scoped up I go for 750 to 800 yards, so it seems SP1 is right in the thinking where I play.
He used the word creepy, so does my 6 yr old grandson
Anything beyond 400 meters I would use a 7.62.51 or larger round. The 5.56 is a proven battle rifle but lacks power beyond a certain range.
Tom, you are exactly correct. For distances equal to or greater than 400 meters, I would use the .308 Win. (7.62 x 51mm) and be confident I had enough energy delivered on target.
Up to 800-900 yards Id use the 7.62 and anything longer Ive been quite impressed with the Creedmor 6.5 at 1100-1200 yards…now we’re into sniper fun time. The real issue is weight. If you’ve carried 556 and 762 you know there’s a serious difference in your ability to carry supporting ammo(your back will definitely feel it!). In urban scenarios you really need both for close street battles(less than 50 yards and long range taking out rooftop snipers.
I have used and carried both, my military experience in 1968 when I joined the army, I prefer the m-14 ammo is a trade off to the lighter 5.56 but is not as susceptible to wind and barriers.
And the hole it makes is bigger.
For the fun stuff I prefer my quad fifty.
Was at a indoor range in upstate S.C. talking to a younger guy in the parking lot. Came up that he shoots at a range called Clinton House. He shoots a 6.5creedmore at a 1000 yard and mile range. Asked how big the steel was at that range. Obviously larger than a human but still a feat. There’s people out there that share your long range shooting philosophy.
You also forget- bad guys get to use luck, and are never held accountable. So being able to shoot accurately to 900 yards, means surgical precision at 400 meters. Skill = safety.
That question came from someone who doesn’t even understand much about what self defense means
In fact it sounds more like a trick question meant to trip you up
All of War is Murder, kids. That is why, when our adversary chooses War to redress his grievances, we do our utmost to give him a belly full of it, preferably from 500+ meters away.
Done properly, the target never has a chance to see where the shot came from, much less who the shooter is. The smart shooter then exfils the AO without ever having been seen.
If shooting the enemy from a great distance is murder, then that is what we should call what police snipers are doing.
The enemy has no idea what we are capable of, the 30-06 is another capable weapon especially if you have some black tipped ammo available.
That will not happen the FBI sniper that shot randy weavers wife while holding her baby was never charged.
Sir, if my memory is correct, that infamous, dishonorable rat would would be Lon Horiuchi.
I guess he forgot his oath to the constitution about 30 seconds after he took it.
Yes that is him, it was also the first time the fbi was allowed to shoot on sight an American citizen.
