Hog-Culling Next As Meatpacking Plants Shutter Operations Stoking Food Shortage Fears In Weeks

We have warned that a rash of COVID-19 outbreaks at dozens of meatpacking plants across the country has quickly transformed into a crisis. Around 150 of these facilities operate within counties where virus cases and deaths are exceptionally high.

An outbreak of the virus has been reported at many of these processing plants, resulting in the closure of at least eight major ones in the last two weeks.

very virus-related meat processing plant closure reduces the ability of local farmers to sell their animals at the market, now is leading to herd overcapacity at farms and resulting in hundreds of thousands of hogs that are about to be culled.

We noted on Thursday (April 23) that the latest closure of processing plants has shifted at least 15% of US’ hog-slaughtering capacity offline. Farmers in Minnesota are preparing to cull upwards of 200,000 pigs by the first or second week of May.

By now, it should be obvious the evolution of the virus crisis could trigger food shortages across the country at a time when an economic depression is unfolding with 26 million people out of work in five weeks. This all means the unraveling of social fabric is ahead.

RX Minuteman: A Warning to the Wicked

NOTE: RATED-R for some strong language (not for gentle ears). Cowering to evil is NOT an option, however it takes tremendous fortitude to stand top against evil when it threatens you with all manner of earthly consequences. Without solid fortitude, one will never be useful in any serious confrontations. This is 100% essential for all RX Minutemen. When the going gets tough and you run out of your own fortitude, what strength will you fall back upon?

Brandon Smith: Pandemic And Economic Collapse: The Next 60 Days

UPDATE:

I revised this article to give Brandon Smith more credit as the author and eliminated most of the content in an effort to direct people to his site and other articles. Based on some of the comments, Mr. Smith does not appear to be as well known or appreciated as he deserves. I have been reading his work for ten years and he is both prescient and well educated in the economic conditions that have led to our collapse. Do not shoot the messenger for trying to educate you.

David

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The news cycle moves so quickly these days writing analysis on current events becomes difficult; the moment you publish an examination of the situation people have already moved on to the next disaster. So, today I’m not going to do that. Instead, let’s look at current trends and project what is likely to happen in the next couple of months. In my article ‘How The Pandemic Crisis Will Probably Develop Over The Next Year’ published in early March, I outlined what I believed would be the major developments on a longer timetable. Some of these predictions have already occurred.
Now I would like to tackle a shorter timetable and focus more specifically on the economic side of things, along with the effects of government lockdowns and how they will continue. Yes, that’s right, if you think the “reopening” of the economy is going to be widespread, or that it will last, don’t get your hopes up. I am using a 60 day model because I have observed that the average non-aware person appears to be about two months behind those of us in the liberty movement in terms of seeing the dangers ahead.
First and foremost, the lockdown issue is on almost everyone’s mind, and as I’ve been saying for the past month, it would not take long before people start freaking out about their financial prospects once they realize this thing may not be over “in two weeks” as we keep hearing every two weeks from the mainstream media, state governments and Donald Trump. The “two weeks until reopen” mantra is designed to keep the public placated and docile, and the establishment will continue to use it until people are finally fed up, which is already beginning to happen.
Lockdown protests are sparking up across the country and it’s only going to get worse from now on. Understand though that establishment elites probably expected this, especially in the US, and they are planning to use civil unrest to their advantage.
Do not be surprised if some areas of the country do indeed “reopen” next month, but expect these locations to be primarily rural. Do NOT count on first and second tier cities to reopen, at least nowhere near the activity that they had previous to the viral outbreak. In fact, while rural towns try to go back to normalcy, many major cities will probably double down and increase restrictions rather than loosen them.
Why do I think this will happen? I’ve noticed an odd narrative being pushed in the mainstream media lately that has me concerned. The MSM is aggressively promoting the notion that rural states and counties are about to be crushed by the coronavirus, and looser restrictions in these places are “a danger to everyone”.
Now, if you read between the lines in this propaganda, what I see is not the media reporting on what is happening now, but what they expect to happen soon. In my area of Montana there is no community spread of the virus, and this is common to many parts of rural America. However, what if rural towns reopen while large metropolitan areas remain closed for business? Unless travel restrictions are instituted, expect a FLOOD of city dwellers to pour into rural areas looking for a taste of freedom and some open bars and restaurants.
If your small town is within 1-2 hours drive of a large city, get ready for a parade of yuppies on mainstreet looking for a vacation from lockdown.
This in itself is not a big deal. If people want to drive from the city to spend money in small town America then that’s a benefit to struggling rural communities (and a bizarre 180 degree shift from the norm). But here is what I think will happen next:
After about two weeks of reopening, small towns across the US will have a massive spike in infection numbers and community spread. Viral clusters will develop and some people will die. Does this mean our economy should be frozen to the point of collapse or that medical martial law is the answer? No, absolutely not. But the media is already gearing up for the big “we told you so”, and as rural infections skyrocket state governments and the federal government will start calling for renewed lockdowns even more harsh than before.  The rest of the world will say “that’s what those Americans (conservative Americans) get for being selfish and trying to reopen too soon”.
The economy cannot be opened one piece at a time, it has to be opened all at once. Otherwise, you are going to get a huge influx of people to reopened regions and an inordinate amount of infection cases will follow in those areas, exaggerating the spread of the virus.  Of course, a full reopening of the nation is not going to happen.
Get ready for a great big fake wrestling match between state governments and Trump in terms of how to handle ending lockdowns. Take note though that Trump flip-flops so much on state power vs. executive power that no one actually knows where he really stands on the issue; this is by design.
Coronavirus: Bad Science (Or Something Worse?) May Well Be Costing Lives
Well, the campaign against hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) continues to intensify. Yesterday, Chris poked an embarrassing number of holes in the main study being cited by the recent headlines that HCQ has “no effect”.
Today, he looks at the growing media reports that HCQ is downright dangerous. Warnings of fatal cardiovascular risk and other side effects that are “inexcusable” to ignore. It sure seems like we’re being told we’d be crazy to put HCQ in our bodies if it does nothing against covid-19 but can harm us with bad, potentially fatal, side effects. But is that true? Again, Chris plows through the research and makes quick work in revealing that chloroquine (and HCQ, its derivative) is one of the most prescribed drugs in history.
It has been for over 70 years and the incident rate of concerning reactions has been practically negligible according to the medical community. From the American College of Cardiology: “Several hundred million courses of chloroquine have been used worldwide making it one of the most widely used drugs in history, without reports of arrhythmic death under Word Health Organization surveillance.”
Why is chloroquine/HCQ suddenly being so demonized, apparently unjustly? We don’t know. But do we know that, whether it’s from bad science or something more nefarious (i.e. Big Pharma protecting its interests), if HCQ is indeed proven to make a positive difference in reducing the severity/fatality of covid-19, lives have been unnecessarily lost by the current campaign to discredit it.
Bankruptcy & Inflation Begin, Record Unemployment, MSM Virus Treatment Lies
I’ve long said we would be seeing deflation (bankruptcy) and inflation (stimulus) before it was all over. It’s not going to be one or the other but both financial phenomenon at the same time. That is exactly what is happening now. Majority Leader of the Senate Mitch McConnell is saying indebted states should go bankrupt, and the President just signed yet another half trillion dollar stimulus package created from money out of thin air. That’s debt destruction and massive money creation. What could go wrong? It’s far from over, and we are just getting started.
In the Great Depression, it took nearly three years for the country to sink into a 25% unemployment rate, which would leave 12 million Americans out of work at the depths of the depression. Today, unemployment is standing at 26.4 million Americans who lost their job in little less than a month and a half. According to Shadowstats.com, the USA is already standing at an actual 23% unemployment rate. What will it be in three years?
The Trump hating mainstream media (MSM) is out with another lie about the top Covid 19 treatment hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). The MSM is quoting a “survey” that says HCQ does not work on the virus. This is a total bold face lie, and all of the MSM ran with it. A top infectious disease doctor calls this “scientific misconduct.” His latest study shows a 98.7 cure rate on more than a 1,000 patients in France. He recommends to give it early in the disease. Thousands of doctors are now using it because it works, and the FDA has already cleared it for use in Covid cases weeks ago.
Even As Many Go Hungry, Farmers Dump Crops
With the usual food distribution chain disrupted due to the coronavirus outbreak, farmers are plowing unused produce back into the field. Yet food banks struggle to feed millions of newly unemployed Americans. While a federal plan will throw $19 billion dollars at the problem, it must still overcome the transportation challenges that created it in the first place. Other food supply issues reports on the meat industry, food plant safety and alleged price gouging on eggs.
The Washington Post: Trump Announced A $19 Billion Plan To Have The Government Play Matchmaker Between Empty Food Banks And Farmers With Surplus Farmers in the upper Midwest euthanize their baby pigs because the slaughterhouses are backing up or closing, while dairy owners in the region dump thousands of gallons of milk a day. In Salinas, Calif., rows of ripe iceberg, romaine and red-leaf lettuce shrivel in the spring sun, waiting to be plowed back into the earth. Drone footage shows a 1.5-mile-long line of cars waiting their turn at a drive-through food bank in Miami. In Dallas, schools serve well north of 500,000 meals on each service day, cars rolling slowly past stations of ice chests and insulated bags as food service employees, volunteers and substitute teachers hand milk and meal packets through the windows.
