Senate rushes through NDAA approval late last night

As usual, Sens. Burr and Hagan voted against the people they supposedly represent.

David DeGerolamo

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Late last night, the Senate voted to reauthorize the National Defense Authorization Act and approved $607 billion in military spending.  Only twelve Republicans and a measly three Democrats opposed the bill. Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), and potential 2016 hopefuls Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) all voted “Nay.”
Senator Ted Cruz released the following statement:
Today I voted against the National Defense Authorization Act. I am deeply concerned that Congress still has not prohibited President Obama’s ability to indefinitely detain U.S. citizens arrested on American soil without trial or due process.
The Constitution does not allow President Obama, or any President, to apprehend an American citizen, arrested on U.S. soil, and detain these citizens indefinitely without a trial. When I ran for office, I promised the people of Texas I would oppose any National Defense Authorization Act that did not explicitly prohibit the indefinite detention of U.S. citizens. Although this legislation does contain several positive provisions that I support, it does not ensure our most basic rights as American citizens are protected.
TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY BIRDWATCHING
drone
Our ancestors could spot natural predators from far by their silhouettes. Are we equally aware of the predators in the present-day? Drones are remote-controlled planes that can be used for anything from surveillance and deadly force, to rescue operations and scientific research. Most drones are used today by military powers for remote-controlled surveillance and attack, and their numbers are growing. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) predicted in 2012 that within 20 years there could be as many as 30.000 drones flying over U.S. Soil alone. As robotic birds will become commonplace in the near future, we should be prepared to identify them. This survival guide is an attempt to familiarise ourselves and future generations, with a changing technological environment.
Measuring Progress
polSam Culper
I just wanted to jot down a few thoughts about intelligence analysis as it applies to measuring progress and developments (both positive and negative).
In many ways, tracking conflict is like tracking a business: you have profits and you have losses, and sales volume, and margins, and variable costs, and overhead, and on and on.  At the end of each week, month, quarter, or year, we need to know how much we spent versus how much we sold so we can determine the business’s profitability.  Well, the same goes for conflict.
In the most recent theaters of war, the military has relied on an event tracking system called the Combined Information Data Network Exchange (CIDNE).  (Take a gander at this website to get an idea of its functions: http://www.issinc.com/products/cidne/).  It’s here where analysts and commanders (or their staffs) are able to call up detailed information about what was happening in the battlespace.
Combat-proven in harsh Iraq and Afghanistan environments, CIDNE is deployed worldwide. CIDNE supports Operations, HUMINT, Targeting, Information Operations, Engagement, Civil Affairs, Human Terrain, Indirect Fires, and Counter-IED communities, and for many it has become the primary tool for authoritative data.
GRNC Alert 12-20-13: NCWRC Calls For Posting Against Carry
Insists “Gun Buster” signs be posted during hunter education classes
Last week hunter education instructors across the state began receiving letters from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) informing them they must begin posting facilities where courses are held against lawful carry.
This posting will make it illegal for anyone to possess firearms on the premises, whether or not they are participating in the course. This creates logistic problems for many ranges that freely offer facilities for hunter education classes, as facilities are used by non-participating members for other purposes.
The mere appearance of such signs has become offensive to those who value Second Amendment rights and recognize that we are responsible for self-defense at all times, everywhere we go. NCWRC should have been more sensitive to these issues, and sought input before demanding the display of distasteful signage.
Apparently what precipitated NCWRC’s sudden desire for posting was a hunter safety participant surprised by being asked to disarm during a course. NCWRC claims that it is only trying to enforce a 10 year-old policy, and that NRA has a similar “no loaded firearms” policy during training classes.
While it may be reasonable to enforce a “no loaded firearm/no ammunition” policy when conducting training with firearms that are carried defensively, forcing those with defensive handguns to disarm while inoperable shotguns and rifles are demonstrated doesn’t pass the commonsense test.
You Don’t Have to Look Far to Find a Certain Kind of Freedom
FREEMANSPERSPECTIVE
pro-freedom entertainment
Liberty is important, not for its own sake, but because it’s the condition that allows life to flourish. So, you could call the list below “pro-life.” However, since we don’t want to confuse this with an abortion debate, let’s just call it “Pro-Freedom.”
Two weeks ago, I published a list of important history books. Now, I’d like to start a list of pro-freedom entertainment: films, TV shows, and music that inspired me towards freedom, or opened my mind, or encouraged me, or in any way (to use a great but forgotten word) edified me. I’m casting a wide net.
I should note, by the way, that these are not all serious works – some are comedies, even a stupid comedy or two – but that doesn’t mean they aren’t valuable in their way.
I made this list fairly quickly, which means that I’m probably missing an awful lot. So, please add to the list if you can.
Here we go:
Patriots Wanted – John Ainsworth Gives Presentation in Roanoke, VA
There are a lot of proposed solutions out there, but I am convinced that few aim at the root like this one. If we don’t understand the history of how our states and people came to be subjugated (or if we don’t even understand that we are subject to begin with), neither will we ever understand the solution to resurrect our states and restore them to their rightful position over the federal government. We’ll just keep playing the political games until we lose it all.
I attended this presentation by John Ainsworth in Roanoke, VA following the Open Carry Day event we attended in November. He provides here historical facts regarding the Reconstruction of our states, the role played by Abraham Lincoln, and a legal argument (I call it a resistance with a legal foundation) which is the remedy to getting our states back on top.
If you would be interested in forming a study group and/or having John speak in your area, please contact America’s Remedy. North Carolina residents have remedy through the re-established state of NC, the North-Carolina American Republic.
It is time for the PEOPLE to take a stand to get this country back on track.
Get Off Your Butt, Or Go Back to Sheep
sheep conspiracy
After I finished watching the Patriot Nurse video (Congress Stealing From Veterans — YOU’RE NEXT!), I read the comments. Even though the title of her video is addressing Congress, many of the comments used this video to attack and blame the pResident. For those who do want to get off their behind, I have one piece of advice: REMEMBER WHO THE REAL ENEMY IS.
by Dave Hodges
The crux of my next article, following this one, focuses on your chances of surviving in a detention camp and what history teaches about which strategies works best in such an environment. Oh, I know some of you do not believe that perceived dissidents and other undesirables will ever be incarcerated during times of martial law and great civil unrest. You believe so, at your own peril.
Every professional sports league has signed an agreement with DHS to allow their facilities to be used as “housing centers” during times of national emergency. As I have previously documented, the NFL has already practiced for a martial law event in both Denver and New York. Additionally, Simon Properties, the largest owner of malls and strip malls in North America, has signed a similar agreement with DHS.
I believe that, after reading the first three parts of this series, if you are not as mad as hell, then you are brain dead or not paying attention. Despite all the evidence, you just sit there and take it. You men of this country are nothing but sheep. You have allowed a TSA pot bellied pervert to stick their hands down the pants of your child and feel up your wife’s breasts and you just let it happen when you should either refuse to fly or punch out these perverts who should be charged with second degree sexual assault.
Free Exercise Thereof
T.L. Davis
We are in a post-republic America. There is no rule of law, there is only a rule of judges. Legislation is equal to a dictate from the king. That we elect the barons and the lords to rule over us does not lessen tyranny, but it makes us feel better; it gives us faith in the “system” and that is all the government really needs.
Through several supreme court decisions, largely where they have ruled on Obamacare, the message as been sent: Whatever the government chooses to do is within its power. Think of that, what is a king, but someone allowed to do whatever they choose and the fact that they choose to do it makes it within their power.
No, we are not quite a monarchy, because the king is changed by the will of the people. But, we are much closer to a democracy, where whatever the government can persuade the people to support, through bribery, coercion or charisma, becomes law.
A republic is a government set up by law, where the law is greater than anyone who might violate it. There can be no one who violates the law and chooses to change the law rather than to suffer its consequences. There are means of dealing with such people, it is written int the Constitution and prescribes even how a president might be removed.
Breakfast at McDonald’s
This is a good story and is true, please read it all the way through until the end! I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with.
Her last project of the term was called, ‘Smile.’ The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reactions. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway. So, I thought this would be a piece of cake, literally. Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonald’s one crisp March morning. It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our son. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did.
I did not move an inch…. An overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved. As I turned around I smelled a horrible ‘dirty body’ smell, and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was ‘smiling’. His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God’s Light as he searched for acceptance. He said, ‘Good day’ as he counted the few coins he had been clutching.
Duck Dynasty
‘Duck Dynasty’ Family: ‘We Cannot Imagine the Show’ Without Phil Robertson
The Duck Dynasty stars have issued a statement amid the controversy surrounding family patriarch Phil Robertson‘s anti-gay remarks. The Robertson clan says they “cannot imagine” the show without him, and that they are “in discussions” with A&E about the future of the series.
“We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision.  We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word.  While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible,” reads a statement posted on the family’s Duck Commander website. “Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Phil would never incite or encourage hate. We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm.  We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty.  Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.”
