Alert: Foodstamp Program Shutdown Imminent

To wit: “understanding the operational issues and constraints that States face, and in the interest of preserving maximum flexibility, we are directing States to hold their November issuance files and delay transmission to State electronic benefit transfer (EBT) vendors until further notice.” In other words, as Fox13News summarizes, “States across the country are being told to stop the supplemental nutrition assistance program for the month of November, pending further notice.”

Jim Rogers: US is exceptional…it’s largest debt nation in the world!

From YouTube:

There may be progress in US over the government shutdown and debt ceiling, but it’s not all good. The deal being talked about now wouldn’t resolve the crisis – but rather kick the can down the road setting the scene for another budget showdown early next year. For more on this RT talks to investor Jim Rogers, author of ‘Street Smarts – Adventures on the Road and in the Markets’.

Obama and Congress Are Playing Chicken with Our Future

See additional comments on Tea Party Nation.

At this point, it is irrelevant who is to blame for our nation’s demise. History will look back and point to specific causes (real or imagined) for our collapse but the reality is simple: weak and greedy leaders. Will a last minute deal be penned in time to avert a default on our debt? This is not the question we need to be asking. Once we allowed the media and our leaders to substitute perception for reality, our fate was sealed.

One reality that will be in the forefront in the immediate future is the effect Obamacare will have on our economy. As working people are now finding out, this is the largest tax put upon people in history. And this tax will have an immediate impact on our economy as the term “discretionary spending” is removed from our lexicon. The unemployment rate will explode once the shutdown is over and the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases its latest figures. Companies have reduced the hours for their employees in the service and retail sectors just prior to the October 1st shutdown. Convenient timing for a government shutdown. Hospitals are laying off thousands across the country. Just in time for Christmas.

The double (and triple) digit increases on medical premiums will have an impact on every working family. Couple unemployment claims, the virtual elimination of discretionary spending in a consumer based economy with a quickly shrinking tax base to understand that we are nearing their endgame.

So the pResident and Congress are playing a game of chicken to see who will wield the power in Washington, D.C. No matter which party wins, America loses. Does America still have the spirit that our forefathers had when they rebelled against a lesser tyranny? We saw a small flame rekindled by our veterans in Washington on October 13th. At this point, I can only pray that we have the strength to rebuild a moral and virtuous country for our children based on the lessons that our “leaders” have taught us.

The sun is setting on dollar supremacy, and with it, American power

A serious alternative to the dollar is still a long way off, but the latest shenanigans on Capitol Hill have given the search for them renewed momentum

A serious alternative to the dollar is still a long way off, but the latest shenanigans on Capitol Hill have given the search for them renewed momentum

All great empires – from the Greek, to the Roman, the Spanish and the British – have at their heart a dominant means of exchange which is very much part of their political and social hegemony. Once upon a time, it was Roman coinage which was the world’s pre-eminent currency. In more recent times it was the British pound. Today, it’s the US dollar to which international investors flock as a safe haven for their money. Highly liquid and apparently reliable – until recently at least – nothing else comes even remotely close to the greenback’s dominant position in the international monetary system.

That this position – what Giscard d’Estaing referred to as America’s “exorbitant privilege” – could so casually be put at risk by politicians on Capitol Hill is an extraordinary spectacle that may be indicative of a great power already seriously on the wane.

With the pound, the fall from grace was swift. Britain emerged from the devastation of the First World War an irreparably damaged economic and military power, with crushing debts and a deeply impaired manufacturing sector.

5.5 million vets get behind newest rally

Veterans have rallied against the federal government’s actions in Washington several times lately, including over the weekend when they carried barricades – some called them “barrycades” – over to the White House lawn where they dumped them.

So have bikers.

So have truckers.

But now, according to a report in the Army Times, a group representing about 5.5 million Americans – service members, veterans, retirees and their families – will be rallying on Tuesday.

It will happen, again, at the World War II Memorial, where members of Congress in recent days have helped take down barricades erected by the National Park Service to keep military veterans away from the open-air memorial that is in their honor.

The Army Times report said the rally will be “aimed at embarrassing Congress and the White House into action.”

“Things that can’t go on, go on until they can’t.”

currencycollapseie3

Things that can’t go on, the prophet Herb Stein once observed, go on until they can’t. Criticality eventually bushwhacks credulity. The aggregation of rackets that American life has become is rolling over like a great groaning wounded leviathan and the rest of the world is starting to freak out at the spectacle. Instead of a revolution, we’re having a suicide party.

But don’t worry, a revolution would not be far behind.

22 Reasons To Be Concerned About The U.S. Economy As We Head Into The Holiday Season

By Michael Snyder

Are we on the verge of another major economic downturn?  In recent weeks, most of the focus has been on our politicians in Washington, but there are lots of other reasons to be deeply alarmed about the economy as well.  Economic confidence is down, retail sales figures are disappointing, job cuts are up, and American consumers are deeply struggling.  Even if our politicians do everything right, there would still be a significant chance that we could be heading into tough economic times in the coming months.  Our economy has been in decline for a very long time, and that decline appears to be accelerating.  There aren’t enough jobs, the quality of our jobs continues to decline, our economic infrastructure is being systematically gutted, and poverty has been absolutely exploding.  Things have gotten so bad that former President Jimmy Carter says that the middle class of today resembles those that were living in poverty when he was in the White House.  But this process has been happening so gradually that most Americans don’t even realize what has happened.  Our economy is being fundamentally transformed, and the pace of our decline is picking up speed.  The following are 22 reasons to be concerned about the U.S. economy as we head into the holiday season…

#1 According to Gallup, we have just seen the largest drop in U.S. economic confidence since 2008.

#2 Retailers all over America are reporting disappointing sales figures, and many analysts are very concerned about what the holiday season will bring.  The following is an excerpt from a recent Zero Hedge article

Amnesty plan for illegals still in motion in Congress

Immigration Activists and Concerned Citizens,

Before you read the below, checkout this link to show how U.S. companies are laying off citizens, but pressing for more immigration:

https://www.cis.org/miano/replacing-americans

While the budget and Obamacare battles go on, there is a plan brewing in the US House of Representatives to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants.  We must zero-in on several US House members from North Carolina and a couple of the US House leaders.

Note that President Obama has shutdown access to War Memorials and other Memorials in Washington, DC but just yesterday allowed an illegal immigrant protest on the National Mall in DC with the Park Police to guard them.   Congressman Gutierrez of Illinois said immigrants need rights (but legal immigrants already have rights)…….not a word was spoken about illegals taking jobs and public services that belong to our working poor and unemployed citizens.  A number of illegals openly protested.

CONTACT THE FOLLOWING FEW MEMBERS OF CONGRESS from North Carolina that our enemies think are weak and might go for an amnesty:

Homeland Security set for next Wall St collapse

Reports are that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is engaged in a massive, covert military buildup. An article in the Associated Press in February confirmed an open purchase order by DHS for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. According to an op-ed in Forbes, that’s enough to sustain an Iraq-sized war for over 20 years.

DHS has also acquired heavily armored tanks, which have been seen roaming the streets. Evidently somebody in government is expecting some serious civil unrest. The question is, why?

Recently revealed statements by former UK prime minister Gordon Brown at the height of the banking crisis in October 2008 could give some insights into that question. An article on BBC News on September 21, 2013, drew from an explosive autobiography called Power Trip by Brown’s spin doctor Damian McBride, who said the prime minister was worried that law and order could collapse during the financial crisis.

There Is No Safe Haven

There is no safe haven, Marc Faber tells Bloomberg TV’s Tom Keene, “The best you can hope for is that you have a diversified portfolio of different assets and that they don’t all collapse at the same time.” Bank deposits are no longer safe; money and treasury bills are not 100% safe; and equities in the US are relatively expensive by any valuation metric. However, at around $1250, gold is a buy, Faber adds on the basis of the ongoing monetization of debt globally. The debt ceiling debacle will lead to the Fed stepping up to directly fund the government (something it already implicitly does but mainstream media prefer not to consider). Faber clarifies the idiocy of the discussions, “both parties want to spend, it’s just on different things,” with “the idiocies of government” having grown way too large, wasting money everywhere… the Democrats are “buying votes” and the Republicans funding the military complex. The debt-ceiling is merely a symptom of the problem, Faber concludes, that “government has grown disproportionately large and that retards economic growth.”
