Judicial Watch Sues CIA for Guest List from 2011 bin Laden Assault Awards Where Panetta Revealed “Top Secret” Information

Judicial Watch announced today that on June 21, 2013, it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) seeking access to records identifying attendees at a June 24, 2011, awards ceremony for individuals involved in the search for and killing of Osama bin Laden. The lawsuit also seeks all records of communications from CIA employees regarding the attendance of “Zero Dark Thirty” filmmaker Mark Boal at the event. (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. Central Intelligence Agency (No. 1:13-cv-00945)).

Judicial Watch seeks the following records pursuant to a December 19, 2012, FOIA request:

  • Any and all guest lists or other records identifying individuals who attended and/or were invited to attend the June 24, 2011 awards ceremony at CIA Headquarters for individuals involved in the search for, and killing of, Osama bin Laden
  • Any and all records of communication between any official, employee, or representative of the Central Intelligence Agency and any other party regarding the attendance of Mr. Mark Boal at the aforementioned awards ceremony.

By letter dated December 27, 2012, the CIA acknowledged having received Judicial Watch’s request on December 19, 2012. The letter stated that it was unlikely the CIA could respond to the request within 20 working days as required by law, adding, “You have the right to consider our honest appraisal as a denial of your request and you may appeal to the Agency Release Panel.” Because the statement was not an adverse determination within the meaning of the law, however, no administrative appeal was possible, therefore Judicial Watch filed the June 21, 2013, FOIA lawsuit.

On June 5, 2013, Politico reported:

Former CIA Director Leon Panetta revealed the name of the Navy SEAL unit that carried out the Osama bin Laden raid and named the unit’s ground commander at a 2011 ceremony attended by “Zero Dark Thirty” filmmaker Mark Boal.

Panetta also discussed classified information designated as “top secret” and “secret” during his presentation at the awards ceremony, according to a draft Pentagon inspector general’s report published Wednesday by the Project on Government Oversight.

Shortages Are Going to Drive People Out of Their Minds: “That’s When the Riots Will Start”

This is what it looks like when Americans rush for cheap TV’s, phones and video game systems on Black Friday – can you imagine what the scene will be when they’re fighting for food and clothing?

Black-Friday-Rush1

The American people, and the people of most western nations, have been living a life of relative peace and prosperity for the last several decades.

The majority have no idea how all of it has been made possible.

The almost unimaginable levels of debt and leverage that have been keeping the system afloat will, however, soon be revealed for the Ponzi scheme they really are.

And when it all comes crashing down millions of unsuspecting myrmidons will be totally blind sided.

They will have failed to prepare for a paradigm shift not seen since the early to mid 20th century, when economic instability and wars ravaged the entire globe, leaving tens of millions of people dead.

As Jim Willie and Greg Hunter note, the big event is coming.

Now is the time to stockpile those items that will be unavailable at almost any price when the severity of the collapse becomes apparent to everyone. Food to keep you alive for extended periods. Essential supplies that you can barter. Gold and silver as a mechanism of exchange. Weapons and ammo to defend what’s yours.

We may not be able to predict what will happen or how widespread it will be, but having a well developed preparedness plan will, at the very least, give you a fighting chance at survival.

America’s only race solution

In all things one can find a solution by referring to previous history. Sometimes the solution revolves around rather harsh remedies. For believers in the Hebrew Bible, the Israelites entered the Promised Land about 3800 years ago. A closer reading will reveal that an entire generation was forced to die before the younger Israelites could claim their promise.

A friend of mine is a Pastor of a small church/school in Florida. In conversation with him, he revealed that teaching the children was not a real problem as most were eager to learn. The majority of the kids under discussion come from lower income homes with half-siblings, no father figure, and a mother dependent upon government social services for survival. These children attend the private school because many Florida Corporations choose to donate their sales tax collection allowances fees to be used as payment of tuition for these underprivileged kids.

The problem is with the parents, many of whom completely ignore their parental responsibilities. One would think that the parents would be motivated to see their children thrive and contribute to that effort. Unfortunately when some folk receive a free gift, it is not always respected or valued. Most the parents probably don’t know or care that the money comes from the donations of mostly white business owners.

In the late 1950’s black parents escorted their children to public schools amid jeers and threats as forced integration of schools was implemented. The Ku Klux Klan was often present with their burning crosses. Anyone who thinks that this struggle was limited to the South is ignorant of history. The vast majority of civil rights leaders whose sacrifice and courage made the availability of public education a reality to black kids are no longer alive. The obvious question is, was their sacrifices in vain?

Most “persistently dangerous” schools are predominately black schools. To get into school buildings in the inner cities, one must walk-thru metal detectors, have their backpacks scanned, and are observed with security cameras. In other words, getting into an inner city public school is like going through TSA screening at an airport; still the drugs and violence persist.

Is the Government Out to Eat You?

By Paul Rosenberg, FreemansPerspective.com

This graph is a very typical display of the predator/prey relationship. It comes from a study on rabbits and coyotes, but the relationship is the same for all predator/prey tandems, from tiny parasites and their hosts to lions and antelopes. The predators always overfeed until the prey can no longer sustain them, then most of them die and the rest wait for the prey to replenish themselves.

It works in the same way for human governance. You are the rabbits; the rulers are the coyotes.

Freeman's Perspective

This thought – that rulership is a predatory strategy – is uncomfortable for most of us. Nonetheless it is true. But there is a serious difference between human rulers and coyotes: Humans are intelligent beings, so the predators must use mental strategies more than physical strategies. The effective rule of humans must focus on their minds more than their bodies; unsupported physical domination is too difficult and expensive. This is why legitimacy matters so much in human governance.

The interesting thing about our current situation is that the rulers of the West retain their overwhelming power, but their legitimacy rests on a number of fragile structures. When one or two of them fail, the others may go down with them. And if this happens, the current system of rulership will not be rebuilt as it is now. What comes next may be better or may be worse, but it will not be the same.

The Reverse View

40 Years Of ‘The Unbearable Heaviness Of Being’ An American Taxpayer

When federal spending grows faster than American’s paychecks, the burden of government on taxpayers becomes greater. Over the past four decades, Americans’ earnings have risen only 24%; while spending by the government has risen 288%, which begs the question – where did it all go?

The Rise Of The Bear: 18 Signs That Russia Is Rapidly Catching Up To The United States

RussiaThe Russian Bear is stronger and more powerful than it has ever been before.  Sadly, most Americans don’t understand this.  They still think of Russia as an “ex-superpower” that was rendered almost irrelevant when the Cold War ended.  And yes, when the Cold War ended Russia was in rough shape.  I got the chance to go over there in the early nineties, and at the time Russia was an economic disaster zone.  Russian currency was so worthless that I joked that I could go exchange a 20 dollar bill and buy the Kremlin.  But since that time Russia has roared back to life.  Once Vladimir Putin became president, the Russian economy started to grow very rapidly.  Today, Russia is an economic powerhouse that is blessed with an abundance of natural resources.  Their debt to GDP ratio is extremely small, they actually run a trade surplus every year, and they have the second most powerful military on the entire planet.  Anyone that underestimates Russia at this point is making a huge mistake.  The Russian Bear is back, and today it is a more formidable adversary than it ever was at any point during the Cold War.

Just check out the following statistics.  The following are 18 signs that Russia is rapidly catching up to the United States…

#1 Russia produces more oil than anyone else on the planet.  The United States is in third place.

#2 Russia is the number two oil exporter in the world.  The United States is forced to import more oil than anyone else in the world.

#3 Russia produces more natural gas than anyone else on the planet.  The United States is in second place.

#4 Today, Russia supplies 34 percent of Europe’s natural gas needs.

#5 The United States has a debt to GDP ratio of 101 percent.  Russia has a debt to GDP ratio of about 8 percent.

MASSIVE jump in people who renounced US citizenship last quarter

by Simon Black

A massive 1,131 individuals renounced their US citizenship last quarter, according to data that has yet to be officially released (though I was able to procure an advanced copy).

This is a HUGE jump.

Compared to the same quarter last year in which 188 people renounced their US citizenship, this year’s number is over SIX TIMES higher.

Not to mention, it’s 66.5% higher than last quarter’s 679 renunciations.

This brings the total number of renunciations so far this year to 1,810.

While still embryonic, it’s difficult to ignore this trend– more and more people are starting to renounce their US citizenship.

After all, the number of people who renounced citizenship this past quarter is roughly the same as the number of people who renounced for the previous four quarters COMBINED.

Putin Laughs At Saudi Offer To Betray Syria In Exchange For “Huge” Arms Deal

Vladimir Putin labels Obama “idiot”

One of the more surprising news to hit the tape yesterday was that Saudi Arabia, exasperated and desperate by Russia’s relentless support of the Syrian regime and refusal to abandon the Syrian army thus facilitating the Qatari plan to pass its natgas pipeline to Europe under Syria, had quietly approached Putin with a proposal for a huge arms deal and a pledge to boost Russian influence in the Arab world if only Putin would abandon Syria’s Assad. It will hardly come as a surprise to anyone that in the aftermath of yesterday’s dilettante mistake by Obama which alienated Putin from the western world (and its subservient states such as Saudi Arabia of course), has just said no. It will certainly come as no surprise because as we explained previously, the biggest loser from Russia abandoning Syria (something we predicted would never happen) would be none other than Russia’s most important company – Gazprom – which would lose its energy grip over Europe as Qatar replaced it as a nat gas vendor. What is shocking in all of this is that Saudi Arabia was so stupid and/or naive to believe that Putin would voluntarily cede geopolitical control over the insolvent Eurozone, where he has more influence according to some than even the ECB, or Bernanke. Especially in the winter.

From AFP:

On July 31, President Vladimir Putin, a strong backer of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, met Saudi Arabia’s influential intelligence chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan, after which both Moscow and Riyadh kept a lid on the substance of the talks.

“Every two years, Bandar bin Sultan meets his Russian counterparts, but this time, he wanted to meet the head of state,” said a European diplomat who shuttles between Beirut and Damascus.

“During the meeting at the Kremlin, the Saudi official explained to his interlocutor that Riyadh is ready to help Moscow play a bigger role in the Middle East at a time when the United States is disengaging from the region.”

Bandar proposed that Saudi Arabia buy $15 billion (11 billion euros) of weapons from Russia and invest “considerably in the country,” the source said.

This is where it gets funny:

CNN: North Carolina’s Republican Tax Experiment

north carolina gov signs bill

Gov. Pat McCrory and Rep. Tillis

Tax reform is still all talk, talk, talk in Washington. And many expect real action could take years.

But not in North Carolina. The state has taken a very big first step in overhauling its tax code — enacting its first major reform in 80 years.

The change, signed into law last month, creates a modified flat tax system, with a single income tax rate, an increased standard deduction and fewer tax breaks, as well as the elimination of the personal exemption and a $50,000 deduction for small business owners. It also repeals the state’s estate tax.

“It’s fairly radical in relation to other states,” said Kathleen Thies, senior state tax analyst for the tax publisher CCH.
