Gallup: Chris Christie Is Most-Favored Republican Recent Newsmaker–Among Democrats

Chris ChristieAccording to a newly released Gallup poll, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is the most-favored Republican recent newsmaker and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is the least-favored–among Democratic respondents.

The poll sought to measure the favorable/unfavorable sentiments toward five Republicans Gallup believes may run for president in 2016.

Conducted June 1-4. the survey asked: [P]lease say if you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of these people–or if you have never heard of them.” It then listed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul.

Among Democrats, Christie had the most favorable responses. Fifty-four percent of Democrats said they had a favorable view of Christie, compared to 21 percent who had a favorable view of Rubio, 17 percent who had a favorable view of Ryan, 16 percent who had a favorable view of Paul, and 11 percent who had a favorable view of Cruz.

GRNC Alert 6-16-13 NC Sheriffs’ Assoc. Threatens HB 937

Sheriffs’ opposition could sink restaurant/campus carry and other initiatives!

The North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association (NCSA) is pressuring both House Speaker Thom Tillis (R, Mecklenburg, GRNC ****) and NC Governor Pat McCrory (R, GRNC-***) to oppose GRNC’s repeal of the antiquated pistol purchase permit system that has been in place since 1919. As part of omnibus gun bill HB 937, which contains restaurant and limited campus carry, the purchase permit law would be repealed IF the House votes to concur with Senate improvements to the bill and IF Gov. McCrory doesn’t veto it.

The purchase permit law slated for elimination through HB 937 was designed to grant discriminatory power to NC Sheriffs and enable them to subjectively deny handguns to whoever they consider “undesirable.” To this day, several counties abuse the permit system in ways that make it difficult for law-abiding citizens to rightfully obtain handguns.

Ironically, as documented by The Charlotte Observer, the law sheriffs defend is letting untold numbers of felons bypass background checks to buy guns. Why? Because the untrackable slips of paper issued by sheriffs after background checks can’t be repealed and are good for 5 years. Eliminating the system would mean that checks using the National Instant Background Check System (NICS) would be done at the point of sale.

Sheriffs want money & power

Beyond the power to deny purchase permits for arbitrary reasons by claiming applicants don’t have “good moral character” (whatever that means), consider the fact that currently proposed legislationwill double the fees sheriffs collect. Are Sheriffs refusing to do what’s right in order to maintain a cash cow worth millions?

Hassan Rouhani, 64, will take office as President of Iran on August 3 with the endorsement of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who Saturday congratulated him as the winner of Friday’s election by 50.7 percent in the first round of voting. Rouhani garnered 18 million ballots out of the 72 percent turnout of 50 million eligible voters, with the help of “reformist’ sympathizers and minority communities. With the news, spontaneous celebrations spread across Iran. The president-elect told the people that his success was “a victory of moderation over extremism.”

DEBKAfile attributes Rouhani’s upset victory to an unprecedented combination of circumstances:

1. The hard-line camp couldn’t get its act together. Khamenei failed to persuade the Revolutionary Guards (Pasdaran) chiefs to withdraw their candidate, Tehran mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf’s, in favor of his favorite, National Security Adviser, Saeed Jalili. So the ayatollah turned to Rouhani.

Although a solid member of the Islamic Revolutionary establishment, Rouhani looked capable of inspiring hope in the Iranian people, and using his mild personality to persuade the international community to relax some of the sanctions strangling the Iranian economy over Iran’s nuclear program.

Aetna Pulls Out Of California Individual Insurance Market In Response To Obamacare

If Obamacare’s stated goal was to broaden the health insurance market, give more options to consumers, and generally lower the cost of health insurance, courtesy of the IRS’ flawless execution of yet another unprecedented government expansion, it may be in for a tough time. Because while on paper every statist plan of centrally-planned ambitions looks good, in reality things usually don’t work out quite as expected. Case in point the news that Aetna will stop selling health insurance to individual consumers in California at the end of 2013, in advance of Obamacare’s complete transformation of the insurance market: a transformation which just incidentally may see most private health insurance firms follow in Aetna’s steps and the emergence of a single-payer system along the lines of the British National Health Service. A government-mandated and funded system which, needless to say, crushes private enterprise, and ends up costing far more for all involved than an efficient market based on individual wants, needs and capabilities constantly in flux.

But that’s ok – there is an administration which is smarter than the entire market, and a Federal Reserve which will monetize any deficit funding, and the only trade off is making the already ridiculous US federal debt ridiculouser.

For more irony we go to the WSJ which informs us that that “pullout is likely to draw attention as California has become a focus of national debate over the law’s impact. Supporters, including President Barack Obama, who highlighted the state in a recent speech, argue that it has shown the success of the health overhaul in encouraging competition and pushing down prices.”

If in some parallel socialist universe, the exit of competitors ends up boosting competition, than yes, we agree. In this one, however, things are a little… different.

UNC to reduce in-state students to increase number of foreign students

The University of North Carolina system is considering a reduction in the number of in-state students in order to allow more foreign students.

The same industry trade groups and large corporations that want unchecked illegal immigration are the same ones behind the scenes pushing for more foreign students.  To these groups the USA is nothing more than a global marketing zone to become part of “One World”.

I think most of us are fine with foreign exchange programs in which we send one of our students abroad and they send us one.   Today we are receiving three foreign students for every one we send abroad.  Nationwide out of the more than 750,000 foreign students in our universities, over 125,000 are Chinese students, significantly more than we send to China at a time in which the Chinese government is attempting to steal military info and technology from the USA.

Are we paying state taxes used by the UNC system for OUR children to become better educated or foreign students?  Are you willing to sacrifice your child getting an education to open up additional seats for foreign students?

DHS abandoned required background checks to meet flood of amnesty requests

Documents I recently obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) reveal that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) willfully ignored the criminal past of many DACA applicants when those facts came to light despite the agency’s best effort to forgo background checks on them altogether.  Here is yesterday’s press release about it:
Acting on a tip from an FBI agent, I submitted to DHS a FOIA request on October 26, 2012, seeking “all communications, memoranda, emails, policy guidance, directives, initiatives, and any other correspondence respecting the scope and extent of background checks to be performed (or not) on aliens applying to the Obama administration’s DACA program.”  Responsive documents received this month reveal a costly, haphazard screening process, with only cursory review for the backgrounds of illegal aliens seeking “deferred status,”  including:

“On Friday, we got the latest phony Jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Labor Department. The BLS reported without blushing that the U.S. economy created 175,000 new jobs in May. This occurred while the unemployment rate did not change, remaining at 7.6 percent. How is this possible? The truth? According to the BLS’s own CESBD report, where they guess how many jobs were created by new businesses they think may have started that month, and then they add this estimated make believe figure to the count that gets reported to us as the new jobs number, huge fudge numbers were added to their count. In April, 2013, the BLS reported that 149,000 net new U.S. jobs were created. But, they also reported that 193,000 of these were a guess on their part of new jobs they hope were created by new business that probably started up in April. Which means the actual count showed the U.S. lost 44,000 net jobs in April (149,000 minus 193,000 fudged figure). For May, the actual count showed that the U.S. lost 30,000 net jobs (175,000 reported less 205,000 fudged figure). This helps explain why unemployment is not going down. The true new jobs created figures are vastly overstated by the BLS. The numbers they reported the past two months are pure hogwash.

Doug Hagmann: Am I a traitor?

The question hit me like a lightning bolt as I looked in the mirror upon awaking this morning. Am I a traitor to my country, to my fellow citizens of the United States of America? Have I abandoned all sound reason and logic and lost my moral compass?

Have I somehow sold out my ideals and thereby my family, friends and fellow reporters?  Apparently someone in this administration must believe I am a traitor and lost my way, for I am the target of active telephone monitoring by the National SecurityAgency (NSA), a branch of the Department of Defense and an agency tasked with monitoring foreign intelligence and communications.

As I stared in the mirror, I asked myself, “what am I missing here?” What have I done during the course of seeking out the truth to provide to the American people about what’s really going on within and outside of our government with regard to the numerous “scandals” we are learning about? Could it be that the truth is that toxic to those in power that they will go to such lengths to silence an investigative reporter?

The Obama administration has set a goal to restrict firearms guaranteed  under the 2nd amendment. Their first attempt has failed but their second attempt will focus on mental illness. Once a diagnosis of mental illness is made, the right to bear arms will be restricted or more likely, eliminated for the individual. A good example was a seminar in Raleigh, NC in May, 2013 where a panel of dubious distinction explained how mental illness evaluations should be a requirement for firearm registration.

Doctors are now asking patients if they own a firearm as part of their examinations.

Imagine trying to justify firearm ownership by people who are considered mentally ill (by the government). Which is why this will be the focus for disarming the people.

Amnesty Is Not Amnesty?

     Most politicians who favor amnesty are reluctant to call it amnesty. Some definitions are needed to help see through the political hogwash. Here is a definition of U.S. immigration law amnesty: 

A pardon for illegal immigrant entry or visa violations and/or willful false or misleading representations or willful concealment of a material fact regarding immigration entry and visas. 

Forgoing the penalty for illegal entry is amnesty; granting a path to citizenship is not necessary for amnesty to be amnesty. 

You cannot separate, however, this definition of amnesty from the normal penalty for illegal entry. I have tried to summarize the penalties described in USC Title 8 Paragraph 1325 below:

Deportation, with a 3-10 year bar against reentry, up to six months in prison (first offense), and fines (complex elaboration in Title 18) Penalties can be increased for identity theft or fraud (false or stolen social security numbers), and tax evasion or fraud.

     Meanwhile let me ask those who believe illegal immigrant workers have only violated border entry or visa laws a very relevant question. What percentage of illegal immigrant workers have not committed identity theft, identity fraud (including using a bogus or stolen social security number) or tax evasion?  An American citizen would probably face prison and heavy fines for committing such felonies. The Federal penalty for identity theft is 3-7 years in prison. Most states have $50,000 to $100,000 fines as well.  Continue reading →

 We will have a meeting to discuss new leadership and current events. This will be an important meeting because of everything that is/has happened over the past several months and years. It is clear there is a line that has been drawn in the sand between the Federal Gov. and We the People. Pres. Obama has stepped way over his Constitutional duties and is attaching the citizens of the United States everyday with his actions. All the while Congress does nothing to stop him and his administration. Politicians on both sides are supporting him on Amnesty, NSA surveillance, IRS scandal, and other issues. If there was ever a time to take a stand it is now. While it is fine to meet and air our dis-like for what is happening, now is the time to take a course of action and make a plan on how to prepare for everything that is happening. I urge you to get your family and friends to come to this meeting. If they do not see what is happening to our country now they never will. It is up to you to be ready. Everything that we love and cherish about our country is being turned on its head.
