Italian election rattles world markets

Beppe Grillo’s Five Star Movement becomes Italy’s election success storyLike Berlusconi in 1994, Grillo has succeeded by exploiting the most relevant medium of the day

World markets retreated Tuesday as a big vote for anti-austerity parties in Italy’s elections left the eurozone’s third biggest economy in political deadlock, sparking fears of a revival of the region’s debt crisis.

European stock markets were sharply lower, led by a 4% plunge on Italy’s index of leading shares. Italy’s borrowing costs increased, as the yield on its 10-year bond moved up towards 5%, triggering similar moves in other weaker eurozone states such as Spain and Portugal. The euro fell to just above $1.30.

“Italy’s election looks set to deliver some of the worst-case outcomes that markets had feared but had largely ruled out as unlikely,” noted Shahab Jalinoos, a strategist at Swiss bank UBS.

Once Again Leo Gerald: the Face of Evil

GOP Coddles the Rich, Cuts the Rest

by Leo Gerald

President Obama is recommending reducing the pain of sequestration by raising revenue. This could be accomplished by eliminating cushy deals that the rich and corporations have bought for themselves over the years with lobbyist dough.

It breaks down like this, specifically:

  • Do Republicans want to evict 70,000 low-income children from Head Start to ensure that the nation’s largest corporation, GE, which is massively profitable, continues to pay no taxes, in fact, demands rebates from the American people?
  • Do Republicans want to furlough 750,000 civilians employed by the Army to ensure that one of the richest men in the world, Warren Buffett, can continue paying a lower tax rate than his secretary, a situation that Buffett has described as unconscionable?
  • Do Republicans want to slash $550 million from the FBI, hindering response to cyber and terrorist attacks after the equivalent of 7,000 workers are furloughed each day just to ensure that corporations can continue to get tax breaks when they off-shore jobs?
  • Do Republicans want to end treatment for 373,000 seriously mentally ill adults and severely emotionally disturbed children just to ensure that the 1 percent continue to receive tax breaks for their corporate jetsyachts and golf carts?

Obama’s “Cyber-warriors” caught in gun control action

By Douglas J. Hagmann

25 February 2013: We initially disclosed the existence of Obama’s “cyber-warriors” in an article published on 6 February 2013 under the title DHS Insider: Obama’s cyber-warriors & preparing for collapse. Today, a Texas lawmaker has reportedly caught Obama’s cyber-warriors in action, using fraudulent Twitter accounts to sway the gun control argument. According to Rep. Steve Stockman, Obama is using fictitious Twitter accounts to make it appear that there is more public support for gun control than really exists.

Is America Becoming Europe?

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5ZhJ71TESc

From YouTube:

Across the Atlantic, Americans see European economies faltering under enormous debt, overburdened welfare states, governments controlling close to fifty percent of the economy, high taxation, heavily regulated labor markets, aging populations, and large numbers of public sector workers. They also see a European political class that is unable — and, in many cases, unwilling — to implement economic reform.

This timely and sobering video explains why Americans cannot ignore the “canary in the coalmine” across the pond in determining our future. We must ask the question: “Is America becoming Europe?”

“This is a book that every economist, historian, and politician should read.”
— Amity Shlaes, syndicated Bloomberg News columnist

“Europe is a terrifying example of what happens when the state gets too large and the money runs out. Don’t imagine that it couldn’t happen to you.”

— Daniel Hannan, British Conservative Member of the European Parliament

20 Signs That The U.S. Economy Is Heading For Big Trouble In The Months Ahead

20 Signs That The U.S. Economy Is Heading For Big Trouble In The Months Ahead - Photo by Frank KovalchekIs the U.S. economy about to experience a major downturn?  Unfortunately, there are a whole bunch of signs that economic activity in the United States is really slowing down right now.  Freight volumes and freight expenditures are way down, consumer confidence has declined sharply, major retail chains all over America are closing hundreds of stores, and the “sequester” threatens to give the American people their first significant opportunity to experience what “austerity” tastes like.  Gas prices are going up rapidly, corporate insiders are dumping massive amounts of stock and there are high profile corporate bankruptcies in the news almost every single day now.  In many ways, what we are going through right now feels very similar to 2008 before the crash happened.  Back then the warning signs of economic trouble were very obvious, but our politicians and the mainstream media insisted that everything was just fine, and the stock market was very much detached from reality.  When the stock market did finally catch up with reality, it happened very, very rapidly.  Sadly, most people do not appear to have learned any lessons from the crisis of 2008.  Americans continue to rack up staggering amounts of debt, and Wall Street is more reckless than ever.  As a society, we seem to have concluded that 2008 was just a temporary malfunction rather than an indication that our entire system was fundamentally flawed.  In the end, we will pay a great price for our overconfidence and our recklessness.

So what will the rest of 2013 bring?

Hopefully the economy will remain stable for as long as possible, but right now things do not look particularly promising.

The following are 20 signs that the U.S. economy is heading for big trouble in the months ahead… Continue reading

A Sino-Russian Invasion of America? It Can’t Happen Here

Chinese Attack

During the crisis, reports continuously stream in from spies of continued attacks by forces loyal to Homeland Security against armed resistance by the American people, like a gargantuan zombie attempting to cannibalize its own right arm with the assistance of its left, the invasion forces know that the belligerent regime is tied up and distracted, and that the oppressed resistance is ripe for recruitment, training, and arming under command of invasion forces. After all, did not America do the same to Libya, Syria and countless others? Let them see what it’s like for once.

As Sun Tzu wrote, power possesses the properties of water. It by nature races into voids and low lying areas, filling them. It does not think before doing so, it is true to its own gravitic nature, obeying the laws that govern it. Where old power dies, new power flows in. Post collapse America will be as low as her one time greatness was once great. America will be ripe for invasion.

GRNC Alert 2-25-13: Gun banners on run? Turn up heat!

“I don’t think we’re that close to a deal…”

In an about-face, Senator Tom Coburn, who was previously said to be close to a “deal” with Sen. Charles Schumer and others on a “lite” version of registering private gun sales, now says: ““I don’t think we’re that close to a deal…” That is according to “Roll Call” on Sunday, suggesting your input is having an impact.

But is Coburn just trying to deflect you? Bloomberg News today sees it differently:

New York Senator Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, and Republican Tom Coburn of Oklahoma have worked out 90 percent of their differences over a measure that would expand criminal background checks to most private sales of guns, according to two Senate aides who asked for anonymity to discuss the talks.”

Either way, it is time to turn up the pressure with a new round of calls to Congress saying: “No deals on background checks.”

Market Plunges As European Crisis Is Back

JPY saw a massive correction today – gaining 3% against the USD – its biggest single-day gain since May 2010 – dragging all the carry traders with it. S&P 500 futures volume exploded to its highest since the rally began in November as it broke its uptrend and slumped 40 points from its intraday highs. VIX’s term structure collapsed to its flattest in 18 months as spot surged above 19% (no – everyone wasn’t hedged). The Dow, S&P, and Nasdaq are all red for the month and even the Trannies are almost unch. Treasuries soared with 10Y ending -10bps (after being +4bps at its worst of the day). Gold and Silver surged (with the latter testing near $1600 again) as WTI dropped 1%. Homebuilders (not helped by lumber’s price collapse) dropped 3.5% but every sector was ugly today and closed at its lows.

Something Simple For Our Consideration

We need a success. Something that people can get behind and fight back against an out of control government. Something that no one ideological side can argue against. Something simple.

NO ARMED DRONES ARE ALLOWED TO FLY OVER US SOIL.

Now which Congressman will propose this legislation?

The Rise of the Praetorian Class

riot-police-food

The Praetorian Class includes members of the Armed Services, federal, state and local law enforcement personnel as well as numerous militarized officials including agents from the DEA, Immigrations, Customs Enforcement, Air Marshalls, US Marshalls, and more. It also includes, although to a lesser extent, various stage actors in the expanding security theater such as TSA personnel. The main mission of the Praetorian Class is to keep the order of the day. This requires displaying an intimidating presence in their interactions with the Economic Class.

As the Praetorian Class ascends, the clear, albeit unstated, message that emerges is that actions and events in the Economic Class only occur with its tacit consent. Whether driving on roads, traveling in the air, visiting public land, walking down the street or even living in your own home, every action you take is predicated on its permission. By preconditioning the populace to enforcement of its edicts, most of which are completely arbitrary, the Praetorian Class sets itself up for a high degree of autonomy in its actions. This is confirmed by the fact that consequences for malfeasance within the Praetorian Class are almost never observed, and when it happens, it typically becomes a grotesque spectacle in which one of their own is sacrificed as an example, so as to keep appearances of effective internal controls.
