Two people injured in accidental shooting at Raleigh gun show

UPDATE:

The Dixie Gun and Knife show in Raleigh will be open tomorrow (Sunday, January 20th). However, no private sales of firearms will be allowed. Again, I have to ask why?

Three individuals (not two) were injured.

What are the facts at this time?

1. The event was shut down due to circumstances caused by law enforcement, not any a private individual.
2. People inside lost their entry fee ($8.00) and vendors lost revenue. People who were outside were turned away.
3.  The show will be open on Sunday but all private sales are now prohibited.

It appears that both individuals are fine. Thank the Lord.

Shooting at Raleigh gun showAt least two people were injured Saturday afternoon in an apparent accidental shooting at the gun show being held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 1 p.m., and two people were loaded into ambulances. A witness told WRAL that a gun went off after being checked by an official at a safety check-in location, hitting a man in the hand and a woman in the side. The Raleigh Fire Department confirmed that the Dixie Gun and Knife Show would be closed for the remainder of the day Saturday. There was no word on whether the show, which is held inside the Jim Graham Building, would continue Sunday.

Least Transparent Administration in History

AP

BY: CJ Ciaramella

The number of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuits filed against the federal government has increased dramatically under the Obama administration, according to a December study by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC).

A comparison between the last two years of President George W. Bush’s second term and the last two years of President Barack Obama’s first term shows FOIA lawsuits jumped by 28 percent, TRAC reports.

FOIA lawsuits are filed to challenge denials of records requests or the use of exemptions of information by federal agencies.

The number of FOIA lawsuits filed against the State Department rose by 111 percent in those time periods, from 18 to 38. FOIA lawsuits rose by 60 percent at both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Additionally, the Department of Justice saw an increase by 50 percent.

Obama pledged to usher in an unprecedented era of transparency and openness in government, but the rise in FOIA lawsuits “adds credence to the criticism of some activists about the Obama Administration’s actual commitment to this goal,” TRAC wrote.

What Did the president Sign on Wedneday?

It is now more than two full days later and Obama’s executive order on gun control is still not up on whitehouse.gov.

I wonder what the president’s executive order that he signed in front of the children actually states?

Danny Glover Makes the Case Why Mentally Ill People Should Not Own Firearms

Let me be clear: Danny Glover should not be allowed to own a firearm under Obama’s executive order based on its provisions on mental illness. Maybe if he learned how to shoot, he would feel differently?

The First Lady on the Launch of Organizing for Action

Friend —

Today, a new grassroots organization is being launched: Organizing for Action.

Following in the footsteps of the campaign you built, Organizing for Action will be an unparalleled force in American politics. It will work to turn our shared values into legislative action — and it’ll empower the next generation of leaders in our movement.

Michelle recorded a video to tell you more about the new organization — take a look and let OFA know you’re in:

We may have started this as a long shot presidential primary campaign in 2007, but it’s always been about more than just winning an election. Together, we’ve made our communities stronger, we’ve fought for historic legislation, and we’ve brought more people than ever before into the political process.

We have the power to do even more to change our politics and our country for the better. With Organizing for Action, you’ll have every resource you need to do it.

But it starts with you. This new organization is in your hands.

I’m so excited to see what you all do next — and so grateful to be part of it.

Thanks,

Barack

3D PRINTED GUNS

While it is illegal to print an entire gun, parts can be printed and guns assembled with relative ease. Cody Wilson explained to Beck that the file for the high-capacity magazine has been downloaded more that 150,000 times since President Obama’s announcement of his Executive Orders on limiting guns.

Fighting Against the Growing Entitlement Society

Glenn focused his TV show Wednesday night squarely on a growing, out of control entitlement society that had lost its connection to community and reality.

In the opening moments of the show, Glenn discussed a study that found that today’s college students have an inflated sense of ability and skills, especially compared to students in the 1960s. Despite their above average view of their own ability, their skills are actually less than those of students generations ago. At the same time, today’s students are focused on what is owed to them by society rather than on how they as individuals can contribute to improving their community.

This new mentality contrasts sharply the attitude of generations past. Earlier generations used to pursue American dream through ingenuity and hard work. If they were ultimately rewarded success, they considered themselves incredibly fortunate. Today, college students think they are owed this success but they don’t think it should come with any work.

The Guardian analyzed the details of the study:

Open Letter to the President Barack Obama – T.L. Davis

TLDavisMr. President

Today, there are families who question the direction of the nation. There are fathers and mothers trying to figure out how to pay the bills, to put children through college, to just get by everyday when wages have been depressed by overwhelming unemployment. I know it is at 7.8%, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Your economists understand what I am saying.

We are a nation saddled with many bills and deficits that are not realistically ever going to be repaid. For example, the treasury receives around 2.3 trillion dollars in revenue every year, but spends nearly 5 trillion, or 5,000 billion dollars. There are concerns that to continue to operate the federal government, social security, medicare, medicaid, etc., the government is going to have to devalue the dollar. QE 1&2 didn’t do it. The Stimulus package went largely to government entities as grants and such. This is not a criticism, but it is a fact. That money did not filter down to small business.

Here’s the fact of the matter: we have had enough.

We will resist at all costs your efforts, because we know the result. The result is Washington D.C. and its murder rate; Chicago  and its murder rate versus Wyoming and its murder rate and I mean by per capita, not totals.

You are welcome to ask me how many I am willing to kill to retain my rights as soon as you are willing to answer my question: How many are you willing to kill to get them?
