Walter Williams: Americans misunderstand the point of the Second Amendment

Author and economist Walter Williams told The Daily Caller that the purpose of the Second Amendment is to protect Americans from their own government — not simply to ensure hunting rights.

Williams, a syndicated columnist and the John M. Olin Distinguished Professor of Economics at George Mason University, suggested that common misconceptions about the Second Amendment undermine the gun control debate.

“[The Founding Fathers’] stated reason was to allow the American people to protect themselves from the United States Congress — that is, government. That’s why we have the Second Amendment,” he said.

US Derivative Exposure, Reality and the Little Worm in Back of the White House

There is no government in the world that has this kind of money. This is roughly 3 times the entire world economy. The unregulated market presents a massive financial risk. The corruption and immorality of the banks makes the situation worse.

If you don’t want to bank with these banks, but want to have access to free ATM’s anywhere– most Credit Unions in USA are in the CO-OP ATM network, where all ATM’s are free to any COOP CU member and most support depositing checks. The Credit Unions are like banks, but invest all their profits to give members lower rates and better service. They don’t have shareholders to worry about or have derivatives to purchase and sell.

Keep an eye out in the news for “derivative crisis”, as the crisis is inevitable with current falling value of most real assets.

Scramble for vaccine as flu season heats up

Missed flu-shot day at the office last fall? And all those “get vaccinated” ads? A scramble for shots is under way as late-comers seek protection from a miserable flu strain already spreading through much of the country.

Federal health officials said Friday that there is still some flu vaccine available and it’s not too late to benefit from it. But people may have to call around to find a clinic with shots still on the shelf, or wait a few days for a new shipment.

“We’re hearing of spot shortages,” said Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The War in Mali – Another Diversion?

We will know more on the infringement of the 2nd amendment this week but what about the undeclared wars in Africa? The war in Mali is starting to receive some attention and France is taking their “kinetic action” to the United Nations. Is this another diversion? Will Congress be bypassed again in the declaration of “war”?

With so much misdirection by the government, what should we be focused on? The relentless attacks on the Constitution and the impotence of Congress should be in the forefront. Nothing will affect our Liberty more than our government and nothing should allow us to lose sight of this fact.

The unity of our nation is fractured but our resolve must not falter. Everything now depends on the right duty to protect the country from a tyrannical government. We know the consequences of failure. The government knows this is their best chance for complete usurpation. Their arrogance is their weakness.

Covert Malian war being fought from the sky

The international counterattack against Islamic militants in Mal ramped up over the weekend, with air strikes by French jets and gunship helicopters and a French-supported air-mobile assault by Malian troops into Islamist-held territory.

” Heavy losses have been inflicted on our adversaries,” French president Francois Hollande said.

The attack, reportedly involving hundreds of French and Malian soldiers and airmen, came 10 months after al-Qaida-affiliated militants seized the northern half of the West African nation, including the historic city of Timbuktu, displacing tens of thousands and imposing harsh sharia law.

French transport planes carried Malian soldiers into the northern battle zone while French personnel landed in Bamako, Mali’s capital, to reinforce the city’s garrison. But most of the action seems to have been in the air, as French warplanes pummeled rebel positions.

The assault opens a new front in the global war against Islamic militants, joining conflicts in Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Yemen. American officials say they’re considering joining, while French foreign minister Laurent Fabius claimed the US is already involved. “We have the support of the Americans for communications and transport,” he told the AP, without giving more detail.

screw-obamaPresident Barack Obama last week re-nominated 33 individuals to federal benches, several of whom faced stiff resistance when originally nominated.

The judicial nominations come as the president faces stiff confirmation battles for some of his cabinet nominations, including over secretary of defense nominee Chuck Hagel.

The judicial nominations have raised concerns among court-watchers of increased judicial activism and maneuvering for potential Supreme Court vacancies.

“He wants to appoint judges based on their empathy rather than based on their commitment to the law,” said Carrie Severino, chief counsel for the Judicial Crisis Network, a judicial watchdog group.

1. On deflation: deflation is indeed a good thing when it is the result of increases in market efficiency due to competition or technology. Two examples would be the massive deflation in Lasik eye surgery over the last 15 years, and the perpetual deflation in the computing and electronics markets. In my cattle marketing school, I make this point by telling the class that for Christmas 1984 I received a Commodore 64 computer. It cost $380 at K-Mart, as I recall. Right this second, TigerDirect is advertising on their homepage an Acer 15.6″ laptop with a Quad-core, 4 gig, Windows 8 laptop for $399. Just stop and think about that, first in terms of the amount the dollar has inflated from 1984 to today, and then in terms of the difference in computing power and memory between the two machines. The “64” in Commodore 64 is 64 KILOBYTES. That was the entire amount of RAM. I don’t think you can send an email today that is less than 64k.

This sort of deflation is DISCRETE and is limited to specific market segments, and is indeed a good thing. What I am talking about is aggregate, MACRO deflation of an entire currency caused by money supply strangulation – a stagnant number of dollars being chased by a multiplying populace. That is a completely different concept. Don’t confuse the two.

Man plows car through bar; says he was upset about political argument

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Investigators say Friday night, 26-year-old Jacob Spivey drove into the side of Katy’s on South College Rd. on purpose.

Police say Spivey got into a political argument with a fellow patron at Katy’s restaurant and bar.

They say he was so upset he left the bar and got in his car, but not to leave.

Detectives say Spivey drove his car through the wall of the restaurant in an attempt to run down the woman he had argued with.

The War On Terror Spreads to Africa: U.S. Sending Troops to 35 African Nations

The U.S. is sending troops to 35 African nations under the guise of fighting Al Qaeda and related terrorists.

Democracy Now notes:

U.S. Army teams will be deploying to as many as 35 African countries early next year for training programs and other operations as part of an increased Pentagon role in Africa. The move would see small teams of U.S. troops dispatched to countries with groups allegedly linked to al-Qaeda, such as Libya, Sudan, Algeria and Niger. The teams are from a U.S. brigade that has the capability to use drones for military operations in Africa if granted permission. The deployment could also potentially lay the groundwork for future U.S. military intervention in Africa.

[A special American brigade] will be able to take part in nearly 100 separate training and military exercises next year, in nearly three dozen African countries

Wyoming lawmakers propose bill to nullify new federal gun laws

Wyoming lawmakers have proposed a new bill that, if passed, would nullify any federal restrictions on guns, threatening to jail federal agents attempting to confiscate guns, ammunition magazines or ammunition.

The bill – HB0104 – states that “any federal law which attempts to ban a semi-automatic firearm or to limit the size of a magazine of a firearm or other limitation on firearms in this state shall be unenforceable in Wyoming.”

The bill is sponsored by eight Wyoming state representatives ad two state senators. If passed, the bill would declare any federal gun regulation created on or after January 1, 2013 to be unenforceable within the state.

In addition, the bill states would charge federal officials attempting to enforce a federal gun law within the state with a felony – “subject to imprisonment for not more less than one (1) year and one (1) day or more than five (5) years, a fine of not more than two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), or both.”

There Will be No 2016 Elections

screw-obamaThe template for stealing elections in America at the national level has been set in the 2012 election. Given all the unvetted and demonstrable aberrations in this election, it has become crystal clear that the 2012 Presidential election was illegally determined and, by extension, so will every future election. Without addressing these issues the current president must be considered illegal and a usurper and every effort made to remove him from office. The complicit media (Baa, Baa) quickly buried all negative (i.e., truthful) information about this election. That the Republican Party has not vigorously investigated the election results is a sign of their weakness and/or complicity. After the 2014 elections, if held, Republicans will be gone. There will be no 2016 elections. Obama is right; he has run his last campaign, although he fully expects to be ‘Presidente’ when the next one rolls around.
