President Obama’s ambitious plan for stepped up government regulation of the oceans includes an unreported effort to cede U.S. oceans to United Nations-based international law, WND has learned.

The plan was previously a pet project of Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, whose ocean-zoning scheme was partnered with a globalist group that also aimed to hand over U.S. oceans to U.N. governance.

Obama’s plan is still in draft form. It calls for an executive order to be issued for a National Ocean Policy that will determine how the ecosystem is managed while giving the federal government more regulatory authority over any businesses that utilize the ocean.

It’s outrageous when the Chair of the House Subcommittee on Higher Education declares that she has little tolerance for students graduating with loan debt (“There’s no reason for that… I never borrowed a dime of money”). But it’s even more outrageous when that person will let the interest rate on subsidized Stafford loans double in the next few weeks. And that’s exactly the case right now.

Rep. Virginia Foxx is overseeing the bill that will determine whether or not students with subsidized Stafford loans will see their interest rate double to 6.8%. She’s also the woman who, on a recent radio interview, stated “I have very little tolerance for people who tell me that they graduate with $200,000 of debt or even $80,000 of debt because there’s no reason for that.” Foxx displays complete ignorance about the reality of student loan debt in 2012.

Foxx needs to be publicly called out for her remarks, and Speaker Boehner has the power to do it. Sign here to tell Speaker Boehner and Congress to denounce Foxx’s comments.

Downgrade of US Credit Rating by Egan Jones Becoming a Vendetta?

The SEC will be filing charges against Egan Jones for alleged misstatement on a four-year old regulatory application. This is another example of the administration punishing a company for not keeping in lockstep. The charges come just after Egan Jones lowered their credit rating for the United States for the second time. Never mind that the action is justified and Standard & Poor’s will be following shortly. As our credit rating is lowered, the  interest rate on our Treasury Bonds will be raised in order to attract buyers. A 1% raise in interest on our debt will add $150 billion each year to our debt. This interest will be paid by the Federal Reserve Bank directing the Treasury to print more fiat currency. This action will reduce our credit rating again. Zero interest rates by the Federal Reserve must come to an end but the consequences will be severe.

When you go to your State Legislator’s web site and send him/her an email, does he/she read it? Probably not. It seems to go into a big black hole – probably the same big black hole that so many tax dollars go. The following email was sent to each of North Carolina’s 120 House Representatives and 50 Senators to gauge their responsiveness to emails:

Visualizing America’s Derivatives Universe

A month ago, we presented the latest derivatives update from the OCC, according to which the Top 5 US banks held 95.7%, or $221 trillion of the entire US derivative universe (which in turn is just a modest portion of the entire $707 trillion in global derivatives as of June 30, 2011). And while the numbers of all this credit money, because that’s what it is, and the variation margin associated with all these trillions in bets is all too real, appeared impressive on paper, they did not do this story enough service. So to present, visually this time, the US derivatives problem, we go to our friends from Demonocracy, who put the $229 trillion derivative ‘issue’ in its proper context. For those curious what a paper equivalent of bailing out the US derivatives market would look like, now you know.

India Moves to Establish Regional Hegemony

It is becoming increasingly difficult to track all the scenarios which may impact the world.  Here is one which I believe is not receiving due attention – India has declared themselves a major player in southern Asia, and they have done a lot of political jockeying in recent days to increase their sphere of influence.  They have strongly aligned themselves with Russia and China, and now are declaring a long-range nuclear capability.

All the war-indicators are there: they are resource-hungry, have political unrest internally, and are doing the “war-dance” with well publicized military maneuvers and missile tests.  Generally this kind of a game is played to establish regional power – to become a “leader nation”.  What does this mean for US and other Western interests in the area? North Carolinians Can Now Work and Collect Unemployment Benefits

The Bridge to Work program will allow people to test drive a new job without sacrificing unemployment benefits. This is a last ditch effort by the Obama administration to reduce unemployment by paying people to go to work. Why would people work when the government is willing to pay them unemployment benefits for two years? The unemployment rate is about to explode in May when the seasonal adjustments are removed. The administration can only reduce the number of people in the work force so many times to manipulate the unemployment rate. This is just another election ploy designed to buy votes.

Early Voting Starts April 19th: Vote for These Candidates

I received another email from a “conservative group” telling their members whom to vote for in the upcoming primary on May 8th. Looks like the Democrat party cannot catch a break in these recommendations. Funny thing, this conservative endorsement tells me to vote for Frank Roche. The previous endorsement for conservatives told me to vote against Frank Roche? Seems like “conservatives” have a difference of opinion in the statewide races. I guess there was no recommendation for the GOP presidential candidate or the governor. That is alright: the Republican Party has chosen their anointed ones and neither one is “conservative”.  Who says money can’t buy an election? Just ask Dan Forest.

I will vote for the candidates that are most qualified for the position based on my own research. It is the least I can do to honor the soldiers’ lives sacrificed to give us this privilege.

Obama Caves to Iran: No Nuclear Inspections

Obama ready to yield on Iran’s nuclear transparency. Israel:Tehran will cheat 

In the direct, secret exchanges between the US and Iran which led up to the Istanbul talks with the six powers, of Saturday, April 14, President Barack Obama quietly backed off from his demand that Iran “come clean” on its nuclear activities and open up to international inspection, DEBKAfile reports.

This concession paved the way for Tehran’s consent to discuss his framework proposal to stop enriching uranium to 20 percent, halt work at its underground facility for higher enrichment near Qom, and export its stockpile of highly enriched uranium for final processing to 20 percent for use in medical isotopes. This would be presented as a deal for settling the nuclear controversy.

DEBKAfile’s military sources: The Iranians may find it worth their while to accept this framework. After all, once sanctions are lifted by the end of June – as Tehran demands – and they are freed of IAEA oversight, the Iranians can go forward with their plans for building a nuclear weapon undisturbed and Washington can celebrate a breakthrough.

Israel has not received word of this deal.
