My power went out today at 5:15 AM. This is a usual occurrence for our electrical utility. I reported the outage on my cell phone but their automated reported system was not working. The alternative suggested reporting system was to call in. Calling in directly gave me menu options which then “automatically” disconnected twice.
I was thinking about the adage: no one is coming to help you. Especially if no one knows you need help or are under attack. This is the new paradigm: DEI incompetence, poor work ethics and no accountability. I do have alternatives because I understand no one is coming to help in the near future.
Power was restored at 8:30 AM. The EMC still has 7,500 homes without power seven hours later.
My power is out now for over two hours. According to our utility’s outage map, it appears that over half of their service area is down due to thunderstorms. I suspect the power will be out most of the day.
You can find quotes from antiquity on down in which elders of the age disparage younger generations. Our age is filled with them. There are far fewer quotes from the past or present in which elders acknowledge their generations’ role in younger generations’ upbringing and education and consequently, some responsibility for outcomes. Perhaps my generation (I’m 66) should behold the beam in our own eyes before we pontificate further about the motes in our children’s and grandchildren’s eyes. This may cushion the shock for what’s coming—one of history’s most dramatic intergenerational repudiations.

The impending economic and financial catastrophe will be the downfall of large, complex institutions, including governments, and the death of many people. Insurrection and secession are strong possibilities. Broke, the survivors will live self-sufficient lives, on a smaller scale. Most of them will be from the younger generations. After a few years of carving out this new existence, they’ll realize that they don’t need the government that was the totem for prior generations and the author of so many of their woes. They don’t need the endless taxes, wars, laws, arrogance, theft, and corruption. They’ll wonder why they tolerated immiseration for so long, and they’ll vow never to tolerate it again.
A section of the $320 million floating pier built and erected off Gaza’s coast has broken off and floated onto an Israeli beach. The Saturday mishap is the latest setback for the US humanitarian aid project, after three US troops were reported injured aboard the pier two days prior, including one critically.
The Times of Israel’s military correspondent Emanuel Fabian has reported that “An American vessel used to unload humanitarian aid from ships into the Gaza Strip via a floating pier disconnected from a small boat tugging it this morning due to stormy seas, leading it to get stuck on the coast of Ashdod, eyewitnesses say.”

The recovery operation has not gone well either, as “Another ship was then sent to try and extract the stuck vessel, but also got beached,” Fabian writes.
And yet a second US Army vessel also got stuck in shallow waters while trying to rescue the pier section. Overnight US ships had been moving two pieces of the floating pier to the Port of Ashdod in southern Israel when the now beached section detached and drifted away. American troops can be seen in footage standing helplessly on the beach.

I wrote back in 2020 about online universities. Most courses teach the same material as that presented 50 or more years ago. Film the class at a “prestigious” university and allow people to take the class for a minimal cost. Of course that would not give universities obscene profits or the opportunity to indoctrinate you.
Just make sure that none of the courses come from the medical school at UCLA.
