The Meaning of Certain Primary Words

John Taylor of Caroline

The word union is inexplicit. It may imply either a perfect consolidation; or an association for special purposes, reaching only stated objects, and limited by positive restrictions. Of civil unions, the matrimonial is the most intimate; and yet the parties to it are invested with separate and independent rights. The ancient union of the independent kingdoms of Spain, effected by marriage or conquest, left to each many local privileges. The union of England and Scotland, effected by compact, contains stipulations beyond the power of the united government to alter, especially that in relation to the religion of the latter kingdom. That between England and Ireland is a political consolidation. The latter kingdom did not obtain an establishment of the Roman Catholick religion. Had the majority of the people possessed free will, they would have reserved this local right; and the Roman Catholick religion, like the Presbyterian, would have been placed beyond the reach of the united representation in parliament; just as the reserved rights of the states are placed beyond the reach of our united representation in Congress; because political unions for special purposes, cannot be defeated by inferences from the form adopted for their execution. In order to determine whether the United States meant by the term union, to establish a supreme power or a limited association, we must commence our inquiry at their political birth, and accommodate our arguments with the principles they avowed in proclaiming their political existence. These are stated in the declaration of independence: “We the representatives of the United States of America, in general Congress assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world, for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name and by the authority of the good people of these colonies, solemnly publish and declare, that these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states; and that as free and independent states, they have full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and do all other acts and things, which independent states may of right do.” Such is the origin of our liberty, and the foundation of our form of government. Pick Up This Sword

There are a lot of good ideas at the site Amerika.org.
I don’t always agree with what I read there, but often I do.  The article Fighting Back With A Sword Of Beauty struck a chord with me today.
Here is a quote:

Crowdism can strike at any time. It isn’t one party, or one political alignment. All leftists are Crowdists, but right-wingers can modify conservatism to become Crowdist also. The Crowdist idea is equality before judgment; the anti-Crowdist is results before privileges.

How do we destroy this horror, this lurking moronic menace that reduces people to zombies chanting out zombie automaton ideology? I think it’s wrong to try to destroy it; better is to take that energy and focus it on ourselves, and on making communities of beauty.

This is a lot harder than destroying something.

However, it’s also a useful exercise. If you build something beautiful and highly functional, the zombies will try to come destroy it. They may even succeed. But the fact is that you’ve made them go after you, instead of being a credible enemy to them.

Further, you’re showing people the most important thing possible: they don’t have to join the zombie march. In fact, outside zombie-ness there’s a beautiful world to discover. You break the peer pressure hold over them by showing that the Crowd is wrong.

Doug Hagmann: The message was delivered, but was it received?

Following the vote to suspend the debt ceiling last Wednesday night, 48 year-old Dianne Reidy, a floor stenographer for the U.S. House of Representatives for the last 8 years, surprised everyone when she briefly but unexpectedly took over the microphone on the House floor at about 10:00 pm.

C-Span footage shows her calmly walking to the dais where she began making statements about God, the founding of the United States, our Constitution, and the influence that Freemasonry played in the founding of our country. She warned House members that they could not serve two masters and that God will not be mocked. Unsurprisingly, Mrs. Reidy was whisked from the dais and ultimately taken to George Washington University Hospital for “mental evaluation.” She was released after about two hours of evaluation.

The media, including nearly all conservative and even Christian reporters, columnists and pundits who even bothered to cover the story, portrayed Diane Reidy as someone who suffered a humiliating and very public mental breakdown. They used patronizing language and empathetic inflection usually reserved for the most fragile mental patients, attributing her actions to long hours and stress. They have not only dismissed the actions of Diane Reidy, but dismissed her message as well, even as they continue to decry the state of our nation.

Obviously, they did not pay attention to her message, nor did they listen to the interview of her husband by Rick Wiles of TruNews the next day. Mr. Reidy revealed critical details about events that led to her actions on the House floor, providing important context not just to her actions, but to the content of her message.

GRNC-PVF Alert 10-20-13: Showdown In Morrisville!

Showdown In Morrisville!

Morrisville City Council meets October 22nd to decide your fate as gun owners…

Morrisville Mayor Jackie Holcombe is once again attempting to circumvent your rights as gun owners with yet another town council meeting to discuss recent changes to state law. In a recent article found in The Cary News, Mayor Holcombe is again calling for more restrictions for law-abiding Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) holders, despite recent advances in law which took effect on October 1st.

This latest attempt on the part of Mayor Holcombe follows a distinct pattern of previous anti-Second Amendment endeavors. In 2012, she became a useful political appendage of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his disturbing Mayors Against Illegal Guns group (MAIG) first by trying to work around the expansion of gun rights brought by HB650 when signed into law, and then by attempting to strong-arm private businesses such as Gander Mountain into “doing their part” by “discontinuing sales of semi-automatic rifles and high capacity ammunition magazines.” within their Morrisville location. Even worse, she was a featured speaker at the failed MAIG “No More Names” tour in June when the band of bothersome mayors came to Raleigh by bus!

Mayor Holcombe has become nothing more than a mouthpiece for Michael Bloomberg and his campaign against the second amendment and obviously will not stop pushing his agenda here in our own backyard. We need a strong showing at the Morrisville Town Council meeting on Tuesday evening, and we need a strong showing at the polls when early voting begins for the Morrisville elections.

Make plans to attend the Morrisville Town Council meeting!

Obama has chance to reshape the NSA

The upcoming retirement of National Security Agency Director Gen. Keith Alexander will give President Obama an opportunity to transform the agency.

Currently, he does not need Senate approval to appoint an NSA director, one of the most powerful positions in the intelligence community

. …

Reuters also reported that Chris Inglis, the NSA deputy director, is expected to step down by the end of the year.

Alexander is also the head of U.S. Cyber Command, a team of military hackers that trains for offensive cyberattacks and protects U.S. computer systems.
