“The founder of Freedom Hosting has been arrested in Ireland and is awaiting extradition to USA. In a crackdown the FBI claims to be about hunting down pedophiles, half of the onion sites in the TOR network have been compromised, including the e-mail counterpart of TOR deep web, TORmail. The FBI has also embedded a 0-day Javascript attack against Firefox 17 on Freedom Hosting’s server. It appears to install a tracking cookie and a payload that phones home to the FBI when the victim resumes non-TOR browsing. Interesting implications for The Silk Road and the value of Bitcoin stemming from this. The attack relies on two extremely unsafe practices when using TOR: Enabled Javascript, and using the same browser for TOR and non-TOR browsing. Any users accessing a Freedom Hosting hosted site since 8/2 with javascript enabled are potentially compromised.”

Tor Websites Down As Alleged Freedom Hosting Admin Arrested For Child Porn Distribution

Scores of “darknet” websites and services remain inaccessible following the arrest of an Irish man believed to be the head of Freedom Hosting, the biggest service provider on the anonymous Tor network.

The FBI has accused Eric Eoin Marques of facilitating child pornography distribution. If he is extradited to the US, he could spend up to 30 years in prison.

Marques is expected to appear in Ireland’s High Court on Thursday, reports The Independent in Ireland. He was identified as a result of a cyber attack on Freedom Hosting, which had also configured the servers to spread the infection.

US sources: Terror alert prompted by suspected suicide bombers with implanted explosives

New threat from implanted explosives.At least six elements don’t add up in the various global warnings released since Thursday Aug. 1:

1. Thursday, US President Barack Obama ordered that “all appropriate steps” be taken to protect Americans in response to a threat of an al-Qaeda attack. What does this mean? The experts comment that even if all US agencies were pressed into service worldwide, there is no way they could protect all Americans in the vast area marked out in the warnings.

2.  If the threat is specific why does the warning extend to so many countries? Al Qaeda is not even active in all them. If the danger is so immediate, why haven’t any governments in North Africa and as far east as Bangladesh declared their own terror alerts?

3.  US officials reported that some of the intelligence came from terrorist communications intercepted by the National Security Agency over the past days. This too raises questions, considering that al Qaeda leaders are wont to avoid electronic media and satellite phones for their communications on operations, preferring couriers who are not susceptible to electronic interception or eavesdropping. The Internet serves them for propaganda and planting red herrings.

4.  In the past week, US drones conducted three attacks against al Qaeda targets in Yemen, where the organization is defined by US officials as al Qaeda’s most dangerous affiliate and capable of attacking the US embassy in Sanaa.

The last drone attack Aug. 1 killed five low-profile al Qaeda operatives, who were driving in a vehicle in the Qatan Valley of Hadramouth province (Osama bin Laden’s place of birth).

All 12 US drone attacks in Yemen of the last eight months targeted Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). Although its deputy chief Said al Shiri, a former inmate of the Guantanamo Bay facility, was eliminated, AQAP’s entire high command has remained intact and fully functional. In other words, US intelligence counter-terror agencies have not discovered their whereabouts.

The Lee Side of the Mountain

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has formally submitted Texas Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee to President Obama for the vacant post of Director of Homeland Security.

Lee is aptly named because the “lee side” is away from the wind, and in the case of Ms. Lee, on the reduced oxygen side of life.  One has to assume that the recommendation by the CBC was not made to induce humor into Washington politics.  And the joke could be on America because Obama may well pull one of the dullest knives in the drawer to run the Homeland Security Department.  Some of Ms. Lee’s less than cerebral comments have been:

  • During a hearing of the House Committee on Homeland Security concerning the radicalization of young Somali-American Muslims by the terror group Al-Shabaab , Lee suggested that “I would like to have a hearing on right-wing extremist . . .”  That would be those pesky conservatives who disagree with Lee and favor relying on the Constitution.
  • During a Congressional hearing concerning the radicalization of prison inmates in America by Muslim extremists, Lee made the following statement “As we look to be informational, we should include an analysis of how Christian militants or others might bring down the country.”  Ms. Lee did not elaborate on how Christians might bring down the country, but we may conclude that it won’t involve clogging highways as they go to church on Sunday morning.
  • Ms. Lee has stated that individuals who feel that abortion is wrong “are morally equivalent to the Muslim jihadist who slammed airplanes into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.”  Black women account for about 13% of the female population in America but 36% of all abortions.  Approximately 13 million black babies have been aborted since 1973.  On average, 1,876 black babies are aborted every day in the United States.  Blackgenocide.org.  Perhaps Ms. Lee is fearful that the aborted babies would grow up to be conservatives?  Or perhaps she has Muslim extremists confused with the abortion mills that are decimating the black community.  In her foggy, upside world it is difficult to tell.
  • Speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives Lee stated “I would personally just say to those who are listening, maybe you want to turn in your guns.”  Lee did not define who the “you” might be and we can only presume that there are those who might be persuaded to listen to Ms. Lee.

‘The Tide Has Turned’: NSA Protesters Back to the Streets for #1984Day

Thousands of people are expected to rally in cities across the U.S. on Sunday in protest of the National Security Agency’s recently exposed dragnet surveillance programs, in what organizers from the group Restore the Fourth are calling 1984 Day.

Protesters in San Francisco, New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington, St. Louis, Raleigh, Austin, and other cities have scheduled marches, rallies, and other events to “draw attention to the NSA’s unconstitutional surveillance programs,” in the name of protecting the principles of the U.S. constitution’s fourth amendment.

“The tide has turned against the National Security Agency’s unconstitutional phone and Internet monitoring,” said Ben Doernberg from Restore the Fourth NYC. “The front page of Monday’s New York Times stated that opposition to the NSA’s activities has ‘momentum that even critics say may be unstoppable,’ and on Sunday, We the People will build on that momentum.”

Obama May Have Played His Last Mulligan

The cartoon above may be correct in the reason for the embassy closures. I encourage everyone to watch CNN tomorrow evening (August 6th) at 10:00 PM to see their revelations on Benghazi. I suspect that they will just parrot the same information that Glenn Beck released shortly after the attack (and before the 2012 presidential election). The other possibility is that the United States is about to invade Syria and is limiting the retaliation to our embassies. It may also be giving them time to destroy or move sensitive information.

The other possibility is that there actually is a planned attack by al Qaeda against US interests. This would beg the question: why are these embassies not on heightened alert instead of being closed?

And why are the embassies closed for a week? Why give a time frame if the attack is imminent? Does anyone in DC actually think that timing for an attack is predicated on a time frame outlined by Obama?

Everyone knows that something is wrong with these embassy closings. If there is a credible threat, maybe more information would have been discovered if the NSA was not spying on Americans.

Big money wants cheap labor, wages driven down, and amnesty

Immigration Activists and Concerned Citizens,

A number of big donors, large cheap labor industry groups, and some conservative groups masquerading as truly being concerned for the USA have been running ads in the media and want an amnesty for illegal immigrants, a doubling of current legal immigration from one million persons per year to two million plus, and pretend this is going to be a wonderful thing for the USA.

The high-tech industry, the United Nations Chamber of Commerce (formerly the US Chamber of Commerce), the Koch Brothers affiliates, Americans for a Conservative Direction (funded in large part by Mark Zuckerburg of Facebook who funneled big bucks to Obama) and other groups have been paying for media spots on radio and TV to support mass immigration and amnesty.  Ask yourself whey these groups would spend big bucks on radio and TV spots unless they had something to gain from mass immigration?

I suppose they forgot to explain to the over twenty million citizens in the USA who are either unemployed or are working part-time but want and cannot find a full-time job how large numbers of legal immigrants (also needing jobs) and giving legal work permits and an amnesty to illegal immigrants will lower the unemployment rate (note the Congressional Budget Office has already said increases in immigration will increase unemployment and drive down wages in the U.S.

If you had a son, would he look like Shaaliver Douse, Mr. President?

While a NYPD officer’s bullet to the head was the direct cause of his death, the indirect cause of his death was just as important. Just 14 years old, Shaaliver Douse, was an alleged gang-banger out at 3:00 AM attempting to murder a member of a rival gang when he ran into a pair of NYPD officers and fired his gun again, for the final time.

I’m waiting for Barack Obama to tell us whether it was Shaaliver Douse or the other thug he was chasing that looked more like his son. The fact remains that both young criminals are a result of the culture excused and encouraged by the sort of social destruction created by 50 years of the progressive “Great Society.”

Douse’s family, of course, denies any sort of responsibility for his actions:

Despite this show of evidence, his family has denied that the 14-year-old boy was involved in gangs and said the NYPD is trying to whitewash the killing.
‘They’re making it all up. There was no gun. It’s all a cover-up. It’s what the police do. They kill us and cover it up,’ the boy’s aunt Quwana Barcene told the Post.

‘It’s not fair. It was my sister’s only child. You shouldn’t have to bury your child. My beautiful nephew got shot in the head. A mother of one now has to bury her only child.’

Aunt Quwana is full of crap, but what do you expect from a 35-year-old who is herself a drain on society, including her assured voting for Democrats, if she votes at all.

Japan Finally Admits The Truth: “Right Now, We Have An Emergency At Fukushima”

Tepco is struggling to contain the highly radioactive water that is seeping into the ocean near Fukushima. The head of Japan’s NRA, Shinji Kinjo exclaimed, “right now, we have an emergency,” as he noted the contaminated groundwater has breached an underground barrier and is rising toward the surface – exceeding the limits of radioactive discharge. In a rather outspoken comment for the typically stoic Japanese, Kinjo said Tepco’s “sense of crisis was weak,” adding that “this is why you can’t just leave it up to Tepco alone” to grapple with the ongoing disaster. As Reuters notes, Tepco has been accused of covering up shortcomings and has been lambasted for its ineptness in the response and while the company says it is taking actions to contain the leaks, Kinjo fears if the water reaches the surface “it would flow extremely fast,” with some suggesting as little as three weeks until this critical point.

Highly radioactive water seeping into the ocean from Japan’s crippled Fukushima nuclear plant is creating an “emergency” that the operator is struggling to contain, an official from the country’s nuclear watchdog said on Monday.

This contaminated groundwater has breached an underground barrier, is rising toward the surface and is exceeding legal limits of radioactive discharge, Shinji Kinjo, head of a Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA) task force, told Reuters.

40 Percent Of U.S. Workers Make Less Than What A Full-Time Minimum Wage Worker Made In 1968

Are American workers paid enough?  That is a topic that is endlessly debated all across this great land of ours.  Unfortunately, what pretty much everyone can agree on is that American workers are not making as much as they used to after you account for inflation.  Back in 1968, the minimum wage in the United States was $1.60 an hour.  That sounds very small, but after you account for inflation a very different picture emerges.  Using the inflation calculator that the Bureau of Labor Statistics provides, $1.60 in 1968 is equivalent to $10.74 today.  And of course the official government inflation numbers have been heavily manipulated to make inflation look much lower than it actually is, so the number for today should actually be substantially higher than $10.74, but for purposes of this article we will use $10.74.  If you were to work a full-time job at $10.74 an hour for a full year (with two weeks off for vacation), you would make about $21,480 for the year.  That isn’t a lot of money, but according to the Social Security Administration, 40.28% of all workers make less than $20,000 a year in America today.  So that means that more than 40 percent of all U.S. workers actually make less than what a full-time minimum wage worker made back in 1968.  That is how far we have fallen.

Back in 1979, there was about one American on food stamps for every manufacturing job.  Today, there are about four Americans on food stamps for every manufacturing job.

Did China Just Fire The First Salvo Towards A New Gold Standard?

In a somewhat shockingly blunt comment from the mouthpiece of Chinese officialdom, Yao Yudong of the PBoC’s monetary policy committee has called for a new Bretton Woods system to strengthen the management of global liquidity. In an article in the China Securities Journal, Yao called for more power to the IMF as international copperation and supervision are needed. While comments seem somewhat barbed towards the rest of the world’s currency devaluers, given China’s growing physical gold demand and the fixed-exchange-rate peg that ‘Bretton Woods’ represents, and contrary to prevailing misconceptions that the SDR may be the currency of the future, China just may opt to have its own hard asset backed optionality for the future; suggesting the new ‘bancor’ would be the barbarous relic (or perhaps worse for the US, the Renminbi). Of course, the writing has been on the wall for China’s push to end the dollar reserve supremacy for over two years as we have dutifully noted – since no ‘world reserve currency’ lasts forever.

Dear Mr. President:

You are acutely aware that the history of liberty is a history of civil disobedience to unjust laws or practices. As Edmund Burke sermonized, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

Civil disobedience is not the first, but the last option. Henry David Thoreau wrote with profound restraint in Civil Disobedience: “If the injustice is part of the necessary friction of the machine of government, let it go, let it go: perchance it will wear smooth certainly the machine will wear out. If the injustice has a spring, or a pulley, or a rope, or a crank, exclusively for itself, then perhaps you may consider whether the remedy will not be worse than the evil; but if it is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law. Let your life be a counter friction to stop the machine.”

Thoreau’s moral philosophy found expression during the Nuremburg trials in which “following orders” was rejected as a defense. Indeed, military law requires disobedience to clearly illegal orders.

A dark chapter in America’s World War II history would not have been written if the then United States Attorney General had resigned rather than participate in racist concentration camps imprisoning 120,000 Japanese American citizens and resident aliens.

Civil disobedience to the Fugitive Slave Act and Jim Crow laws provoked the end of slavery and the modern civil rights revolution.
