Khamenei heads for dynastic rule – his repression and Syrian role unopposed by the West

Favorite presidential runner Golam Ali Haddad-Adel

Golam Ali Haddad-Adel

In the presidential election of June 14, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei aims to grab the whole pot: He has whipped out a dark horse contestant who is both tame – in strong contrast to the outgoing president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – and also family.

DEBKAfile’s Iranian sources name him as former Majlis Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel, 68, whose daughter is married to the ayatollah’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei. He would be trusted to comply with his boss’s plan to keep the presidential seat warm for Khamenei Junior to claim unopposed in 2017.

The Iranian voter may not approve of the plan to establish a Khamenei dynasty for ruling the country. But the Leader is leaving nothing to chance.

He has placed two faithful henchmen in charge of guaranteeing the desired results at the ballot. They are Heydar Moslehi, Minister of Intelligence since 2009, and Ali Fallahian, a proven undercover expert in eliminating enemies of the regime.

The two frontrunners of last week discovered they had been dropped, our Iranian sources disclose. Senior nuclear negotiator and National Security Council head Saeed Jalili was the favorite, trailed closely by Ali Akbar Velayati, Khamenei’s close adviser, the more experienced of the two in government administration. Now, the supreme leader expects them to muster their fans to bolster Haddad-Adel’s prospects of winning the election.

COMMON CORE – Will You Sign a Resolution Opposing Common Core ?

From Diane Rufino:

We’d like to start a resolution campaign to address Common Core, the top-down, one-size-fits-all education agenda to nationalize education standards and then, by extension (and through the testing scheme), to control public school curriculum. Our intention is to collect resolutions from as many groups around the state who want the brakes put on implementation of Common Core in North Carolina and then use them to put the pressure on our state legislature and state Board of Education.

As you all probably know, North Carolina adopted Common Core in 2010.  The state Board of Education adopted it unanimously because it didn’t want to lose the federal “Race to the Top” funding.  The state legislature didn’t vote on it, nor have they taken any serious steps to put the brakes on its implementation. In fact, that’s been the case in 45 states.  Common Core was presented to the states at a time when the government knew the state legislatures would be out of session (late summer).  The government knew it would have a better chance with the state boards of education, which are typically liberal and progressive. And that’s what happened here in NC.  States didn’t want to lose the federal funding and therefore didn’t do the due diligence in researching the Common Core standards. If they had done so, they would have learned that almost everything the CC establishment has saying about it is a lie.

Europe Opens $80 Trillion Shadow Banking Pandora’s Box: Will Seek To Collapse Repo “Collateral Chains”

In what may be the most important story of the day, or maybe year, for a world in which there already is an $11 trillion shortfall in high-quality collateral (and declining every day courtesy of Ben’s monetization of Treasury paper) so needed to support the deposit-free liability structures of the shadow banking system (as most recently explained here), Bloomberg has just reported that Europe may begin a crackdown on that most important credit money conduit: the $80 trillion+ global shadow banking system, by effectively collapsing collateral chains, and by making wanton asset rehypothecation a thing of the past, permitted only with express prior permission, which obviously will never come: who in their right mind would allow a bank to repledge an asset which may be lost as part of the counterparty carnage should said bank pull a Lehman. The result of this, should it be taken to completion, would be pervasive liquidations as countless collateral chain margin calls spread, counterparty risk soars all over again, and as the scramble to obtain the true underlying assets finally begins.

From Bloomberg:

Banks and brokers face a clampdown on using assets they hold for clients as collateral for their own trades as part of European Union moves to bolster market stability and rein in shadow banking.

The European Commission is weighing whether firms should have to obtain formal consent from their clients before being allowed to reuse assets to back other trades, according to a document obtained by Bloomberg News. The consent would be enshrined in a “contractual agreement” between the parties.

Where Should We Focus Our Attention?

The administration and media direct our attention (and efforts) to minimize our efforts to maintain Liberty and the rule of law. A good example is the IRS scandal which is diverting attention from Benghazi. Regardless of this misdirection, we should at least watch the situation unfolding in Japan. Their bond market is in shambles and their stock market is collapsing after an incredible run due to high inflation of the Yen. What happens to Japan if their economy collapses? The better question is what happens to all of the US Bonds that they are holding and may have to dump.

Nikkei Futures Resume Plunge

Japanese stocks had another violent night with record trading volumes on the TOPIX. The early ‘buy the dip mentality’ rapidly escalated into sell-Mortimer-sell as the Nikkei 225 dropped another 1000 points after the lunch break. A late day recovery managed to close the index just in the green and all could relax that the world was once again a better place thanks to Abenomics. However, since Japan closed, Nikkei futures have been sold aggressively now testing back down towards overnight lows.

Doomsday investors betting on market crash

white black swans

Universa Investments, which spends hundreds of millions of dollars a year buying crash protection, has attracted a record amount of money into its fund this quarter.

“People are starting to recognize that these market moves are unnatural and distorted,” said Universa president and chief investment officer Mark Spitznagel, who declined to say how much is spent on crash protection, citing SEC rules.

Universa’s view that a crash is coming is not widely held, making crash protection cheap, he said. Universa buys this protection in the form of options that generate huge returns when the stock market falls by more than 20%. Universa’s adviser, economist and former derivative trader Nassim Taleb calls it ‘black swan’ hedging.

What Happens When the Welfare State Meets Radical Islam?

Stockholm Riots

See additional comments on Tea Party Nation:

Sweden has long been known as a Socialist welfare state which even attempted to limit the fat intake of their people through taxes. The tax was repealed after people went out of the country to buy butter and ice cream.

One of the many downsides to being a Socialist state is the attraction of immigrants looking for a better life (or a free ride). This policy has attracted a large number of Muslims to the country:

Some 80% of the 12,000 residents in Husby are Muslim immigrants. Due to its liberal immigration policy and generous welfare benefits, Sweden has in recent decades become one of Europe’s top destinations for immigrants, both in absolute numbers and relative to its size.

What is the solution? Sweden must first acknowledge that this is a Muslim issue. If you cannot address the cause of the problem, you will never fix it.

Stockholm Riots: Schools Torched as Vandalism Spreads across Sweden

Thirteen people aged between 18 and 25 have been arrested after protesters set fire to two schools in the fifth consecutive night of riots in Stockholm.

Fifteen cars were torched on Thursday night across the Swedish capital’s suburban neighbourhoods, and an attempt to set ablaze a police station was promptly quenched. Fire-fighters responded to some 70 emergency calls overnight.

“This makes me extra angry. Are things going to get better if people set schools on fire?” Aleks Sakala, a resident of Stockholm’s northern district of Kista, asked the Expressen newspaper.

“This is as far from good sense as you can get. This is madness. Where will my kids go to school tomorrow? They probably won’t be able to finish out the term.”

Security reinforcements are converging in Stockholm from around the country to curb the spiraling street violence, which erupted days after a 69-year-old machete-wielding man was shot dead by police.

Gohmert: We need to ‘dismantle’ the IRS

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IY3vErVqjTI#t=1s

Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert told PJ Media that Congress should begin “dismantling the IRS” in response to the agency targeting conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status with additional requirements.

Gohmert, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, also said a “special counsel” is needed to investigate the situation.

“We need a special counsel to get to the bottom of it but I also think we need to be dismantling the IRS,” Gohmert told PJ Media on Capitol Hill.

“My two things – special counsel and dismantle the IRS.”

When asked for his plan to “dismantle” the IRS, Gohmert said, “just start the process, for sure.”

Former IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman, Deputy Treasury Secretary Neal Wolin, and Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration J. Russell George testified before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Wednesday.

FOUR SIGNS THAT WE’RE BACK IN DANGEROUS BUBBLE TERRITORY

SIGN #1: JUNK BOND PRICES AT RECORD HIGHS

The Fed, et al., have been buying up all of the ‘safe’ bonds, with the twin intents of driving down interest rates and chasing investors into riskier assets. With lower yields comes (hopefully) more borrowing; and when investors move towards riskier assets, this drives up the equity markets  which, as the thinking goes, will paint a rosier picture of the economy plus boost consumer confidence and spending.

Along with this, however, we find speculators and investors, starved for yield, chasing the junkiest of the junk.

Indeed, the prices of these “assets” have recently been driven to all-time record highs, which means that their yields have hit record lows.

And not just “low” prices, but a brand new record low in all of financial history.

Obama Admin. Does ‘Reich’ Thing by Deporting Religious Refugees

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZRSEOGVHYc#t=1s

From YouTube:

Trifecta discusses a family that fled Germany because of the European nation’s anti-homeschooling laws. This evangelical family is now forced to comply with Nazi era educational laws that run contrary to their Christian faith. In deporting the family, Obama argued that this law, enacted under Hitler, was fair. Why is Obama defending the German educational system?
