Coronavirus: U.S. Declares Public Health Emergency

Coronavirus R0 at 4.1

From the video description:

A new study coming out of China reports that the Wuhan coronavirus has an Ro of 4.1. That means it’s much more contagious than previously feared. If indeed the case, an Ro of 4.1 means there is NO way of stopping this virus from becoming a full-blown global pandemic.

This study has not yet had time to be peer-reviewed, so the data may change. But going with the data we have *right now* in this fast-developing situation, it is time to start preparing yourself and your loved ones.

Not time to panic, mind you. But start taking steps to prepare should you need to shelter in place for a period of days/weeks if the virus hits your community. N95 masks, sanitizers, household cleaners, etc, body protection, food stores, etc.

Hopefully you won’t have to self-isolate. But if you do, be sure you’ve prepared in advance.

This is the current information for influenza in the United States so far this season:

Key Points

  • Outpatient ILI and laboratory data remain elevated and increased slightly this week. Some regions are seeing increases in the proportion of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses compared to influenza B viruses.
  • Levels of outpatient ILI remain elevated; however, hospitalization rates remain similar to what has been seen at this time during recent seasons and mortality, while low overall, has exceeded the epidemic threshold for one week this season.
  • Over 50% of influenza positive test results from public health laboratories this season are in children and young adults (<25 years), while only 12% are in adults aged 65 and older. This has resulted in high levels of outpatient illness, but lower levels of hospitalization and death due to influenza. However, influenza can still cause severe disease in children.
  • 15 additional pediatric deaths were reported this week, bringing the total for the season to 54. Influenza B viruses account for 37 of the 54 reported flu-related pediatric deaths this season.
  • CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 15 million flu illnesses, 140,000 hospitalizations and 8,200 deaths from flu.
  • Flu vaccine effectiveness estimates are not available yet this season, but vaccination is always the best way to prevent flu and its potentially serious complications.
  • Antiviral medications are an important adjunct to flu vaccine in the control of influenza. Almost all (>99%) of the influenza viruses tested this season are susceptible to the four FDA-approved influenza antiviral medications recommended for use in the U.S. this season.

Glenn Beck pointed this out today: if the same criteria was used for th A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses as China is using for the novel 2019 Coronavirus, several large cities would be under quarantine in the United States. So we have two rational hypotheses based on this information:

  1. China is lying about the threat and the number of confirmed cases of this novel coronavirus.
  2. The United States’ government is not concerned with the possibility of a major influenza outbreak.

Neither hypothesis can be tested (or thereby proven). We know that the first hypothesis is correct. We can assume (correctly or incorrectly) that the R0 is at least 3.5 but probably higher and that the number of infected is much higher.

Here is a chart of the predicted vs. the actual number of infected:

Image

I believe that the numbers will continue to rise exponentially until regions start to burn out of the virus. Even if I am correct, the predicted numbers still will constitute a worldwide plague of Biblical proportions.

TINVOWOOT

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, trump, trial, impeachment, dead voters, democrats, coup, don lemon

And the people cried out “Let us vote” but their elected leaders said that the people could not be trusted.

I wish that we could vote our way out of this. Some days, I see a glimmer of hope that a civil war can be avoided. Then I see how Mark Meadows colluded with Lynda Bennett and Asheville TEA to anoint his chosen successor effectively bypassing the “process”. In the past, candidate debates were held so that the people could ask questions and make their own decisions. I often wonder what our founding fathers would say if they could see that some people base their vote on the recommendations of others. Maybe if the people had made great sacrifices for their Liberty, they would be more vigilant for whom they vote and understand their personal responsibility for keeping this country free.

Watching portions of the impeachment proceedings over the past two months has also made me question how we “elect” our political elite. How can the people of California elect Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi to office when their districts are literally sh_tholes? And yes, I am taking voter fraud into consideration.

What IF?

  • What if people had to vote on April 15th for all final elected offices?
  • What if people had to present valid identification to vote?
  • What if early voting was eliminated?
  • What if people were prosecuted for illegal voting practices?
  • What if people took their right to vote seriously and understood the consequences of their vote as it impacts their children’s future?

The solutions to restoring our Republic are actually quite simple. The problem is the same throughout history: tyranny will not go quietly into the night. How do you recognize tyrants or their supporters? The first clue is anyone who knows that we are a Republic but tries to convince you that we are a Democracy. The ones who do not know that we are a Republic but think we are a Democracy are only useful idiots. They will follow the same path as other Communist supporters once their usefulness is no longer required.

So then that leaves us what other options?

Virginia Gun-Grabber Endangers The Public With A Lethal Weapon and Escapes All Charges!

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — A police officer let a Virginia legislator off with a warning when he was pulled over on suspicion of intoxicated driving.

A statement issued by Christiansburg officials says Montgomery Democrat Chris Hurst was stopped at about 2 a.m. on Sunday and blew a result of .085, just above the legal limit.

The officer was aware that Hurst is a delegate, but neither the officer nor Hurst mentioned it at any time during the encounter.

Additionally, according to Section IV, Article 9 of the Constitution of Virginia, unless they have committed treason, a felony, or a breach of peace, legislators are immune from arrest while the General Assembly is in session.

The officer was aware of the law’s existence because it is taught during the police academy, not because the officer or Hurst mentioned the law.

The provison of the State Constitution makes it highly unlikely that Hurst could have prosecuted in court, even if he had been arrested.

Five Purposes for Suffering
By John Piper

For those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

We seldom know the micro reasons for our sufferings, but the Bible does give us faith-sustaining macro reasons.

It is good to have a way to remember some of these so that, when we are suddenly afflicted, or have a chance to help others in their affliction, we can recall some of the truths God has given us to help us not lose hope.

Here is one way to remember: 5 R’s (or if it helps, just pick three and try to remember them).

The macro purposes of God in our sufferings include:

Repentance: Suffering is a call for us and others to turn from treasuring anything on earth above God. Luke 13:4–5:

“Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

Reliance: Suffering is a call to trust God and not the life-sustaining props of this world. 2 Corinthians 1:8–9:

We were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.

Righteousness: Suffering is the discipline of our loving heavenly Father so that we come to share his righteousness and holiness. Hebrews 12:6, 10–11:

“The Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” . . . He disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Reward: Suffering is working for us a great reward in heaven that will make up for every loss here a thousandfold. 2 Corinthians 4:17:

This light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.

Finally, Reminder: Suffering reminds us that God sent his Son into the world to suffer so that our suffering would not be God’s condemnation but his purification. Philippians 3:10:

. . . that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings.

So, it is understandable that the Christian heart would cry out in suffering, “Why?” since we don’t know most of the micro reasons for our suffering — why now, why this way, why this long? But don’t let that ignorance of the micro reasons cause you to overlook the massive help God gives in his word by telling us his macro purposes for us.

“You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful” (James 5:11).

North Carolina Constitutions Show What We Have Lost

No photo description available.

To further explain, this graphic of NC state constitutions helps to show the delineation between the two different states called North Carolina. The second constitution shown here is a continuation of the first — the same state. However, when we compare the second to the third we see the discontinuation of the old political body and the creation of a new political body.

This new political body represented by the 1868 Constitution was not the original body of state citizens, but all U.S. (national) citizens residing on the soil. The latter constitution does not represent the citizens who were, by congressional decree, disenfranchised as a result of participating in the war (a bill of attainder, by the way; also highly unconstitutional). This 1868 Constitution was not a change or adoption produced by the consent of the people of North Carolina. It was a new creation produced by congress unlawful annulling of the original state’s government and their re-peopling the state over again with a new body that would be loyal to what Federalist 39 referred to as national “indefinite supremacy”. In short, it was the creation of a national, and the whole thing was based upon about 15 violations of the Constitution. (1)

Virginia Democrats pass bill to let non-doctors commit abortions

Featured Image

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Virginia House and Senate respectively both voted to allow non-doctors to commit abortions and to end the requirement women be given pre-abortion ultrasounds, counseling, and a 24-hour waiting period.

The Senate voted 20-20 on the bill, with Democrat Sen. Joe Morrissey bucking his party’s line and Lieutenant Gov. Justin Fairfax breaking the tie. The bills also loosen health and safety requirements for abortion facilities.

Any discrepancies between the House and Senate versions of the bill will have to be resolved before it is signed into law.

Bail set at $1 million for Harvard scientist charged in China case

Charles Lieber is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

The world-renowned Harvard nanoscientist charged with lying about his ties to China appeared in court in handcuffs and and orange jumpsuit Thursday as a judge set his bail at $1 million, confiscated his passport and ordered him to remain in Massachusetts as the case against him continues.

According the federal investigators, a professor at a Chinese university approached Lieber, who is a prolific inventor, in 2011. A few days later, Lieber traveled to China’s Wuhan University of Technology to sign a long-term agreement. When the terms were finalized, he would be paid $50,000 a month, $158,000 in living expenses, and $1.5 million to establish a research lab at the Chinese university.

But Lieber kept that secret from Harvard, according to federal prosecutors, and when questioned by Department of Defense investigators in 2018, denied he had ever participated in the Thousand Talents program.
