Bill Gertz – Officials Worried Snowden Will Pass Secrets to Chinese

The Pentagon is concerned that a former National Security Agency contractor who is now in Hong Kong will compromise top-secret electronic intelligence programs targeted against China, according to a defense official.

Edward Snowden, the former NSA technician who surfaced in Hong Kong Sunday, worked on highly classified electronic intelligence programs targeting China at the NSA’s Kunia facility in Hawaii.

Snowden’s exact whereabouts are not known. He told the South China Morning Post in an interview published Wednesday that he plans to remain in the former British colony, something that likely would upset U.S.-China relations. “My intention is to ask the courts and people of Hong Kong to decide my fate,” he was quoted as saying.

Hong Kong is led by a chief executive who follows Beijing’s dictates on all security and foreign policy matters.

Snowden also provided documents to the newspaper showing that NSA has been hacking into computers in Hong Kong and in mainland China since 2009. None revealed data on Chinese military systems, he said.

According to the report, Snowden claimed there were “hundreds” of NSA intelligence targets in Hong Kong and the mainland.

Attack on 3D Printing In NYC

New York City Council Member Lewis Fidler & Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal have introduced separate bills pioneering government’s future takeover of 3d printing, beginning with targeting gun owners and gun businesses. This highlights an important lesson in government; when seeking government intervention and control in industry, begin by attacking the Rights of gun owners.

Lewis Fidler’s legislation would require a gun license and government gun registry for 3d gun printers and the creation of 3d printed gun parts, and would create the “legal framework” for the NYC 3d printed gun & parts industry.

And by “legal framework”- just as in every other industry-legislators mean a regulatory control beast.

Linda Rosenthal’s bill is a gun prohibitionist’s dream. It effectively bans and creates felony punishment for creating, selling, or using guns & related products made by a 3d printer.

Today’s Greek General Strike Will Not Be Televized

The Greek national broadcaster ERT situation is nowhere near a resolution, and the nation’s political stability remains in the balance with  Antonis Samaras’s coalition partners, Evangelos Venizelos of PASOK and Fotis Kouvelis of Democratic Left, appealing to him Wednesday for talks on the future of the TV and radio station, but the premier has so far stood by his decision to close and later reopen ERT, leaving the government’s future in doubt. What is certain to make matters worse is that today, Greek public transport and state services will be disrupted as thousands of workers join a 24-hour snap general strike called on Wednesday by the country’s two main labor unions, GSEE and ADEDY, in protest to ERT’s shut down. The claim is that Samaras’ unilateral decision was the equivalent of a coup, which of course is not true: one can’t overthrow a country in which sovereignty has long since been ceded to the European Commission, and Germany in specific.

However, the market has no reason to worry about cracks forming in its ivory tower: since the journalists will also be on strike, and since the TV station is obviously shut down, there is no danger of a real-time video stream from Syntagma showing the all too well known Athens riots. As for Istanbul, that is another matter.

Global shares pummeled, dollar slumps as rout gathers pace

World stocks were pummeled and the dollar slumped on Thursday as a sell-off on global financial markets in thrall to central bank stimulus accelerated.

European shares .FTEU3 fell sharply in morning trading, dropping 1.3 percent after the second biggest fall in Japan’s Nikkei .N225 in over two years left Asian shares at their lowest level of the year. <.

Heavy selling hit the dollar, which slumped 2 percent against the yen as investors spooked by the plummeting Japanese stock market unwound hedges. It fell as low as 93.90 yen, its lowest since April 4, giving back almost all the gains made since the Bank of Japan’s aggressive monetary easing announced on that day.

The U.S. currency dropped to a 3-1/2 month low against the euro before a slight rebound left the common currency buying $1.3350.

The rout has been triggered by noises from the U.S. Federal Reserve, which meets next Tuesday and Wednesday, feeding into feverish uncertainty about the scaling back of its huge asset purchase program.

“The trend is still in principle a sell-off in markets, a sell-off in riskier assets on the expectations that the Fed might signal further readiness to maybe slow down the rate of purchases,” said Daiwa Securities economist Tobias Blattner.

America Has A Bigger Problem Than Edward Snowden

A poll from Reuters/Ipsos shows that more Americans view Edward Snowden as a patriot than a traitor. The 31 percent of the sample who viewed Mr. Snowden as a patriot is about the same percentage of the people who supported the patriots in our first American Revolution. As more scandals are unveiled in this “transparent” administration, the level of frustration is rising. But at some point, this frustration will turn to action.

The United States’ federal government has a bigger problem than Mr. Snowden. People understand that an oath to uphold the Constitution means more than an oath of secrecy. This is something that “our” federal government understands but is trying to override. With intimidation. From both parties. We need a poll that asks whether our federal government is comprised of patriots or traitors. We can start with the names of the people in the war room who watched the murder of Christopher Stevens, Tyrone Woods, Sean Smith and Glen Doherty in Benghazi.

I am still waiting for Congress to hold closed door hearings with immunity for whistle blowers on Prism. But it appears that people (including Congressmen) are in fear of their lives. America has a bigger problem than Edward Snowden and we now find ourselves in the same position as our founding fathers did under British tyranny. Have you read the Declaration of Independence lately? If you are one of the 46% who are undecided, I suggest that you read it and chose a side.

Euthanasia for children nears approval by Belgian Parliament

A proposed law on the verge of approval by the Belgium parliament would allow children to decide for themselves whether they should be euthanized (“killed”) by medical personnel. Currently, Belgian law limits euthanasia to persons 18 and older, but with the rise of autistic children thanks to biopesticides, GMOs and vaccines, nations are increasingly trying to figure out what to do with all these children who have been permanently damaged by the medical and biotech industries.

The answer, of course, is to simply kill them. It’s difficult to kill children off under current law without being charged with murder, however. So this proposed new law would allow doctors to decide whether children of any age (yes, even a five-year-old) can, themselves, “consent” to being euthanized without parental consent.

Not surprisingly, the bill was introduced by the socialist party, since socialists tend to hate humanity no matter what country they live in. The proposed legislation calls for, “the law to be extended to minors if they are capable of discernment or affected by an incurable illness or suffering that we cannot alleviate,” reports AFP.

Why Things Will Get Worse – Much Worse

It is easy to be upset about what is happening all around. The economy is being destroyed, deliberately, by insane economic policies. Incentives to work are being eliminated by punishing work. At the same time rewards are increasing for not working. Not surprisingly we get less of what we penalize (work) and more of what we subsidize (non-work).

As an economist I get sick over what I see happening to what was once a great engine of productivity, capital creation and improvements in standards of living.

After two centuries of progress that amazed the world, the conditions necessary for growth and productivity are steadily being removed. Their presence allowed the miracle of America. Their absence guarantees the decline. Carried to extreme, the US could become a second or third-world nation within a few decades. Virtually all changes in the last five to ten years point in this direction and these changes are accelerating.

As pained as the economic retrogression is, the loss of freedom is even more disturbing. It was free markets and free men that made America the dominant economic power and the beacon of freedom. Without freedom, no economic policy can succeed. Yet, just as economic policies seem designed to destroy rather than create, so too does the role of government as steadily destroys freedom with its expanded oppression and power. The absence of freedom is tyranny. The absence of freedom is also poverty.

Communications and Security – Part 1

This is the first of three articles outlining the installation of a WiFi bubble over a small geographic region. The second article will outline how to install wireless IP security cameras (indoor and outdoor). The last article will outline how to install an email server (such as Microsoft Exchange) on this system to allow your group to have email without the Internet (or Prism).

Most people are familiar with a WiFi hotspot or wireless network in their home. The range of these installations is not large so your neighbor across the street will not be able to access your computers. However, there are applications where a larger WiFi bubble or a connection between two wireless bubbles will provide communications and security at a reasonable price. The system outlined in this article has been tested at a distance of three miles. It is rated at 17 miles depending on the topography.

WHO WERE THE PATRIOTS AND TRAITORS IN NAZI GERMANY?

Ever since I was a kid, I have heard Americans ask, “How could the German people have allowed the Nazi regime to commit its evil acts?”

Well, here’s the answer to that question: The German people had the same warped and distorted concept of patriotism that American statists have today.

The overwhelming majority of German citizens believed that it was their moral duty to come to the unconditional support of their government in time of crisis, especially when the nation went to war. The good citizen didn’t question whether his government was right or wrong. The good citizen placed his trust in the judgment and decisions of his government officials, especially during crisis and war.

That’s what patriotism meant to the German people during the 1930s and 1940s. The good citizen — the one who deferred to authority — was considered the patriot.

What about German citizens who refused to defer to authority, those who had an independent mindset — those who would examine government policies with a critical eye — those who would question, challenge, and object to wrongful government policies? They were considered bad citizens — traitors.

Listen to this again. Maxine Waters, a Congressional representative, in a public interview on television, plainly brags that the Obama administration has created “a database likes no one has ever seen before in life, that is going to be very very powerful” and further declares that: 1. this database “will have everything about every individual”, 2. this database’s primary purpose is for the exercise of political power [it is operated by a 503.C4 corp. known as ‘Organizing for America’], she further observed that “whoever runs for president…has to deal with that… they have to deal with that database, with what the concerns of the people are… because there is no getting around it”.  She concludes that “he’s very smart.  It’s very powerful, what he’s leaving in place.”

IRS Agents Seen Training With AR-15s at DHS Facility

Representative Jeff Duncan (R-SC) caused an uproar with a tweet yesterday, stating that he had witnessed IRS agents training with AR-15s at a DHS facility.

My first thought was that this was no major concern. It is known that the IRS has their own law enforcement officials. Mark Levin revealed in May that he was interviewed by two of these armed agents after making complaints about the IRS.

Kuwait is the first Gulf emirate ready to act on the resolution of the recent Gulf Cooperation Council meeting in Jeddah to punish Hizballah for its “flagrant intervention in Syria” against “freedom fighters.” The Interior Ministry in Kuwait is about to “end the residency of some 2,000 Lebanese Shiite citizens” and shut down their financial and commercial businesses.

The six-member bloc denounced Iran’s Lebanese proxy as a terrorist group for its “flagrant military intervention in Syria and its participation in shedding the blood of Syrian people.” The Saudi Cabinet earlier condemned Hezbollah’s “blatant intervention” in the Syrian crisis.

These Kuwait and Saudi moves are expected to soon touch off mass expulsions from the six Gulf nations of tens of thousands of Lebanese Shiites employed or operating businesses there. This forced repatriation of masses of unemployed Shiites will not only be a destabilizing factor in Lebanon but is bound to raise military temperatures between Shiite Iran and the Sunni Gulf.

Tehran and Hizballah may resort to retaliatory steps, including the activation of sleeper terrorist cells against the Sunni governments.

Tehran will certainly not be happy about the GCC taking the opportunity of getting rid of Iranian and Hizballah spy networks operating in those countries, and even less about the liquidations of businesses which helped bankroll the activities of Hizballah and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards covert operations.

Kuwait will also “deny visas” to members of Lebanese groups associated with Hizballah, which run their own militias, such as Nabih Berri (Shiite Amal) and Walid Jumblatt (Druzes).

The GCC is therefore striking hard at supporters of Iran, Hizballah and the Assad regime across a wide spectrum.

You want to know why revolutions happen? Because little by little by little things get worse and worse. But this thing that is happening now is big. This is the key ingredient. This allows them to know everything they need to know to accomplish the above. The fact that they are doing it is proof that they are the sort of people who might use it in the way I described. In the country I live in, they also claimed it was for the safety of the people. Same in Soviet Russia. Same in East Germany. In fact, that is always the excuse that is used to surveil everyone. But it has never ONCE proven to be the reality.

Maybe Obama won’t do it. Maybe the next guy won’t, or the one after him.  Maybe this story isn’t about you. Maybe it happens 10 or 20 years from now, when a big war is happening, or after another big attack. Maybe it’s about your daughter or your son. We just don’t know yet.  But what we do know is that right now, in this moment we have a choice. Are we okay with this, or not? Do we want this power to exist, or not?

I live in a country generally assumed to be a dictatorship. One of the Arab spring countries. I have lived through curfews and have seen the outcomes of the sort of surveillance now being revealed in the US.  People here talking about curfews aren’t realizing what that actually FEELS like. It isn’t about having to go inside, and the practicality of that. It’s about creating the feeling that everyone, everything is watching.
The purpose of this surveillance from the governments point of view is to control enemies of the state. Not terrorists. People who are coalescing around ideas that would destabilize the status quo. These could be religious ideas. These could be groups like anon who are too good with tech for the governments liking. It makes it very easy to know who these people are. It also makes it very simple to control these people.
