The first article outlining the five stages of grieving for our Republic was posted in February, 2011. It is time to revisit the thoughts outlined in that article again. Why now? People sensed something was wrong when Barack Obama became our president. Americans who understand what this country really stands for, recognized the tenuous grip on Liberty that we were facing. But now our sense of trouble has become manifested into reality: we are not facing a precipice in the future but are on the precipice itself.

Reviewing the five stages of the loss of our country at this time may help people cope with their actions and feelings now.
1. Denial- Socialism could never happen to America. The American spirit would never allow it. Our Constitution protects us from this.
2. Anger- An increase in group protests, demonstrating anger with the politicians and political parties, Tea Parties, etc.
3. Bargaining- Compromising on your values, voting for the lesser of two evils, convincing yourself that socialism isn’t so bad – after all the government will at least take care of me so sacrificing a little freedom is acceptable.
4. Depression- Basically being defeated, giving up, low voter turnout, apathy and complacency, hopelessness. There is nothing we can do to change the situation.
5. Acceptance- You recognize you may not win the battle, but at least you are going to keep up the fight. You may have a renewal of your faith. You also recognize you should prepare for the worse and hope for the best. You no longer are immobilized with fear. I consider this the resurrection phase myself. Becoming functional again and the ability to deal with the situation, to prepare one’s one’s self for the future and embrace it. Ready to move on.
So where are we 18 months later? Continue reading →
