While the focus of the hearings for sentient Congressmen was the Fast and Furious scandal, Sen. Franken is not too concerned with the murder of over 200 Mexican nationals in the government’s attempt to eliminate the 2nd amendment:

It appears that Joe Paterno’s 46 year career as head coach at Penn State is coming to an ignominious end as a casualty of the Sandusky sex scandal. Joe will not be remembered as a coaching football legend who donated large amounts of money to the University. He will be remembered as the coach who passed the buck in 2002 to his superiors when evidence of sexual misconduct was reported (see page 6 of the grand jury indictment).
I graduated from Penn State in 1978 and Paterno was already a legend on campus. Although more details will emerge in the future, I know one fact. JoePa should have gone to the police once it became evident that his superiors were going to whitewash this scandal. Will Joe get a fair shake? Ask the victims of this scandal if they got a fair shake? How can anyone sleep at night for over nine years knowing that a sexual predator is on the loose because they were more concerned about a legacy than morality?

Today’s ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia that Obama’s health care law is constitutional is another nail in the coffin of our country. The Constitution is clear on the boundaries imposed on the federal government in Article I, Section 8. The Federalist Papers clarify the “general welfare” excuse used by the Socialists who have bankrupted this country. Our judiciary has become “the germ of dissolution of our federal government” as predicted:

You will never reason with the Enemies of Liberty. You will never change their minds.
They will never leave you alone. Your existence, even in some new, smaller State in some region of CONUS, is too much of a threat to their goals to allow you to live and breed, and your new oasis will be destroyed if you ever achieve it.
Secession or Balkanization is as effective a defense as going fetal in a mosh pit. You lose your greatest assets. If you have cancer and “cure” it by lopping off both of your arms, you’ll die when you get into your next fistfight.
If you want Liberty, the answer is not to contract, but to expand with energy. Push those who do not want you to have Liberty from our midst. Evict them. Convince them to leave or make them leave.

According to warrants from the Buncombe County Magistrate’s Office, Natalie Nicolay, Lisa Landis, Joseph Bacanskas and Terry Whittey all face charges of resisting public officers, impeding traffic, unlawful assembly. Whittey faces an additional charge of wearing a mask in public. The warrants were issued Nov. 4. The four were arrested this afternoon, and released on a written promise to appear.

Our churches today serve cheap grace and bow at the altar of the government for tax exempt status instead of costly grace. This concept can be extended to other facets of our lives but this article will concentrate on “cheap patriotism“.

How petty is the president? Seems that Mr. Obama holds a grudge against St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa and All-Star hitter Albert Pujols after they attended Glenn Beck’s ‘Restoring Honor’ rally in Israel. Mr. Obama could not break away from watching television to make the traditional congratulatory call to the team after winning the world series.
While his actions are those of a petulant child, they must not be overlooked. Warning signs are easy to see when we look back after the impact of the consequences have been and are being felt. Some warning signs are clear such as the president’s support of George Soros and Occupy Wall Street. Some signs are not clear as in this case where it is one of omission.

We have to consider this premise more thoroughly now since America has to decide on whether we will continue to be free men and women or whether we will accept tyranny. Hans is spot on – in all things social, there is a fulcrum, and it moves along the axis of individualism/collectivism. The further the fulcrum moves in favor of collectivism, the more leverage is available to the collective to suppress the expressions of individuals. We do not “pine for civil war” – we pray and act in accordance with our belief that the greatest good is vested in the individual.

As reported yesterday (November 4th, 2011), the expectation for violence this weekend’s threat level was elevated to high. Although several readers took exception to this article, the following account from Forbes details the attack on people who attended the Americans for Prosperity summit in Washington, DC.
If the police are unable to contain violence by the occupation in the nation’s capital, what message is this sending to our police and law-abiding citizens? And where is the government’s response to these actions supported by the president and various other Democrat politicians?

I am dismayed to learn of the Occupy Raleigh arrests on October 27, particularly as the arrests were spurred by the police decision to force a woman with a documented disability to stand in order to participate in the demonstration. Demonstrators have complied with police requests and allowed ample space for public use of the sidewalk. The recent arrests indicate a disregard for Occupy Raleigh’s freedom of speech and right to assemble for redress of grievances.

As you may have heard, the deficit reduction “Supercommittee” will make recommendations to Congress later this month. Under the terms of the debt limit agreement reached in late July, the Supercommittee has a mandate to identify $1.2 trillion in savings by November 23rd. Congress must then have an up-or-down vote on these recommendations by December 31st.
The Supercommittee’s recommendations will have consequences for generations to come. That’s why I’ve been working to make sure that we chart a responsible course back to a balanced budget. We can’t achieve balance by cutting the very investments that will ensure our nation’s long-term economic success.
